Pfft!I should probably do more (some) composting. There is at last one composter here. My parents have never made their own compost so it feeds like a bit of a voyage into the unknown. I'd have to get past the weeds to rescue the composter anyway. Maybe next year...
Chop the weeds down into a pile.
Get access to composter.
Put weeds chopped into composter.
It's all organic!
My weeds all go into the composter. Get onto it from now, as to get good quality compost takes a couple of years.
Make sure the composter is on soil too - lets the worms up for their feast!

I don't like clip frames, & to be honest LIR, these posters are genuinely works of art (imo at least). They're lovely pictures, so ultimately I'd love to frame them properly.lostinrates wrote: »Do you want a frame or protection?
I am wondering if a glazier could make a big 'clip frame' equivalent more cheaply than a huge frame? The very simply display lets the poster do the talking but be protected?
The circular poster ideally needs 2 large perspex circles. I'd need to think how I could join them, then have the poster inside. It would look like a giant tax disc holder, but thinking about it, would show the picture to be a circle, whereas a large square frame with a background wouldn't look as striking. Will have to give it some thought.
Found an online round frame specialists. Looks like their maximum is 50cm.
I was going to say I didn't think it'd be a dilemma for long. Then I scrolled down a bit...:rotfl:I don't eat a lot of chocolate, but I do like a good mint aero. If you were to have both, I'd guess tomato juice would be best first rather than second? Hope you manage to solve your dilemma! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I think there's some in there already. A few weeks ago I summoned up the courage to have a peek (didn't know what to expect, thought it might be crawling...) . So, what can and can't go in there. No tomato seeds (don't think I ever chuck anything with tomato seeds away anyway) - what else?0 -

Today was amazing. Such a contrast to yesterday. We set off at 10am, I drove the whole way (past signs to the NP shrines of Watford and St Albans).
Had lunch, was fine, enjoyed the christening . stuck to diet drinks and avoided the cake. DD drove home and we were back by 8.45pm. It was all so normal with no hassle. I had two spare outfits with me and a picnic of suitable stuff in case we got stuck. None of it needed.
The baby being baptised was just two months old so still very tiny. Most Christenings I have been to in recent years have been for much older babies or toddlers and in truth quite secular celebrations even though they have gone through the motions of a christian service. Her parents had more faith and belief than I realised, so this was more than a meet the infant excuse for a party. There was food and drinks but no ceremonial cake cutting or smug 'toast' to the baby the baptism service was it and then a very sociable gathering for tea. She was conceived through IVF and they had the trials that couples who take this route often face.
I actually think it made a difference to today and I was so glad I was there with them.0 -
Unsurprising really. As tomterm mentioned the other day, in times of hardship/economic downturns, peoples allegiances do switch to the extreme parties.vivatifosi wrote: »Anyone else watching the news? A bit worried about what is being announced. UKiP looks to have won in the UK and Front National in France. People's Party in Denmark - not as right wing but anti EU federalists. Hungary has gone right wing and anti EU.
In Greece, 1/4 of the vote has gone to anti-establishment anti EU left. Similar issue in Italy.
Big groupings moving away from the centrist mainstream.

Almost anything. Paper, the empty contents of my plant post after the harvest, all off cuts/choppings/peelings, tea bags (these are great!).
IIRC it's easier to list what you shouldn't put in:
onions
orange peel
cooked veg
meats
Pretty much anything else organic can go in! (I await wiser NP correcting me. A shame davesnave isn't about - this is exactly his area. I miss davesnave, his posts almost always made me laugh...)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
This would do for the map:
http://www.fastframes.co.uk/acatalog/A0_Poster_Snap_Frames_32mm.html
But that is £36 plus postage!
& before Pn gets in there, it's the cheapest A0 size frame I can find.
The bigger pics, the online prices are all high. When postage is added, I think it'll be cheaper for me to shop local & get in my car.
Something to do tuesday methinks, the day before completion....It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

There's nothing to it. Open it and shove the stuff in. Forget about it. Put it on a metal grate to let worms but not vermnin in if that's a worry for you, otherwise best avoid putting in food waste.
Once it starts to rot, use a rake to mix it together a bit and loosen it for air to get in.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Regarding dvd player, is it for the lounge, or a bedroom? Also, is it mainly for films, tv programmes, or kids dvd's?
Ideally would like two DVD players. I have two TVs - one in the living room and one in the, er, family room - kids getting a bit old to call it a playroom any more. I have about 4 DVD players, none of which actually plays DVDs any more, so I really ought to take them to the tip for recycling.
Picked up a basic DVD player for £34 in Tesco today without bothering to do any research first. It will do for now, and can be easily moved from one room to the other if necessary. Eventually it will end up in the family room. I'll probably put more thought into whether I want to get a more expensive one for the living room in due course. I think I haven't really adjusted to this century and cottoned onto the idea that DVD players aren't necessarily major purchases any more.Today was amazing. Such a contrast to yesterday. Sounds lovely. So glad it went so well for you all.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
