I went out to the garden and planted up a small strawberry pot with bedding plants, not strawberries.

Then thought I would prepare a bit of the veg patch ready to plant out my courgettes.

Dug over a small area, it needs digging again and the clods breaking down but it was only about 6ft by 4ft and not hard to dig, lots of worms etc.

I had started to dig from the other end of the patch when I realised my feeling of exertion was more than that. So I have come in, tested, am low, eaten a teaspoon of strawberry jam and had a hob nob. Now I am on here and will test again in 10 minutes.

Earlier today I had to wait whilst my levels dropped so that I could go out to the shops.

Very annoying . Given how much I like food, it is irritating I am not even much of a jam eater and not that keen on biscuits.
You should still eat foods you enjoy. Just choose the high sugar content.

I popped into Morrisons today - they've got some "multi position" padded garden loungers for £20. I really want one .... can't find any cheaper elsewhere, but for some reason I didn't have the confidence to buy one today. I didn't want to buy it - and give it house room here - "in case" .... as there's no use for one here and everything bought does take up space.

I will probably regret not buying one.

Owning one of those was always on my "luxury list" and I finally bought one in 2001 and loved the comfort of it. Gave it to my parents when I moved in 2007, then it was one of the things I took to the tip when clearing out their house two years ago .... would have liked to have kept it, but it wasn't practical for the hassle of the size and the cost of replacing it at some future point.

They don't have them on their website, so I can't provide you with a link.

Go get one tomorrow! Remember I nearly lost my Ikea must have shelving unit!

I'm thinking of getting a slow cooker when I move too.

Spirit, if something has troubled me visually, and I need my mind to switch off, I tend to find that making my mind focus on something else often helps. Music doesn't do it for me, but speech radio [R4 or R5] does - and I will go to sleep listening to it ('sleep' function on alarm clock radio).

I don't know whether that sort of thing would help?

Edit: Also, if I have physical symptoms, I often find a hot water bottle to cuddle on the lap helps.

Double edit: Cake looks a cautious OK and the skewer came out clean so I have hopes that it will be edible, probably apart from the bottom 1" which never seems to cook properly!

Off to bed so I can hear What the Papers Say on R4 at 1045pm. Night all.

I don't make cakes/biscuits ... only me to eat them, so it's best not to :)

For cream I'd have thought a stick blender would be a good way to avoid having to wash out (then dry) the bowl. I don't buy/use cream, so wouldn't have that problem with that ingredient..... but then I don't plan on ever buying a mixer..... just a processor.

Many many years ago I tried to hand-beat egg whites to meringues.... my god that takes forever....!

    I don't make marinades....
IMO that's the best reason to do baking!:o:D

Thanks, will microwave the wheatpack as that may help if I put it across my neck/shoulders.

    May have a malt whisky:cool:

Spirit, when i was feelig particularly bad one day, a hypnotherapist sent me this link to his free relaxation session.

    http://www.markpowlett.co.uk/freerelaxationdownload.html

It really worked!, so i'd try that or one of the Headspace 10 minuters.

I've just finished work and need to up for an earlier than usual school run. Head is still in the wrong place here, too.

I just had a burst of a Sunday night-itis (it's Sunday night and I was meant to do x, y and z and haven't done any I them), so have spent the last hour filing paperwork into my pretty pink filing cabinet (bought more folders today). Feeling a teeny weeny more organised and the lounge looks a little less hoardy :o

Still not feeling great. Had a bit of a wasted weekend, didn't get much done, fell out with family, washed my £200+ phone.

Decided I'd apply for a job so I'd at least have something to show for the weekend; Ford are looking for graduates, and so I thought that might be a good thing to do this eve. But it's a lengthy application form, 'When have you shown leadership?', 'When have you faced an unexpected challenge and how did you rise to it?', 'Tell us about an achievement you're proud of', 'When did you part the seas and what was the outcome?'. I just couldn't face it. I can see why they do it, as they get hundreds of applications, and having lengthy forms puts off the non-serious applicants. I'll get round to it eventually.

Still, new week tomorrow, bit of a fresh start. I'm going to head into uni, as I'm going a bit crazy staying at home and I need some structure to my days. I normally think it takes about 30 mins to drive and then it's a 20 minute walk (don't really want to pay for parking and need the exercise), so by the time I've done that and got ready etc. I may as well have worked here. But I get nothing done at home. I think it'll do me good to have as shower, shave, put some aftershave on, clean clothes and get out of the house, even if I don't see anyone I know. I might text some people while I'm out (assuming my phone is working) to see if anyone fancies a coffee.

The 10k I mentioned is in a week, and I'm annoyed at myself but there's no way I can do it. A few weeks ago I fell and twisted my knee which meant no training for over a week, and this past week just getting out of bed has been a win, never mind going running. So I'm going to enter another one in a few weeks time. There are loads around now.

Right, I'll try and get some sleep! Night all. Sorry I've been moaning a lot recently.

Phew. Sigh. Breathe. Drop tongue from roof of mouth. I have read the NP posts which I had not seen.

What other instant destressers are there?

I am now however a wreck. Symptoms of anxiety. It will take ages to settle so all NP help gratefully received to diffuse it.

Breathing and relaxation exercises. Also Twinings do a lovely chamomile tea with honey. It tastes good and makes me feel good as well as smelling lovely. This may sound odd, but my brain also feels less frazzled when I take omega 3, but that may be a veggie, low levels thing.

Sorry that a lot of NPs having a tough time at moment. Thinking of everyone.

It'd put me off. I couldn't answer those questions at all. You can only answer those questions if you've got help, been coached, etc.

I don't even know if I've ever shown leadership ....
