    I've been Money Tipped!
    Day trips.

Well, you can feel we're out of practise. Only an idiot would decide to try a Nd cross badminton this weekend.

Actually badminton wasn't tricky at all, buit there is a nasty, nasty crash in bath.

Ended up taking both dog dog and kiwi. Life with two dogs and one of them small is going to be so much easier for getting out, they both sat in the car happily while we went to the no dogs allowed thing, ( though we missed them and kiwi almost licked my face off when we got back.).

    .

You weren't tempted to go in and have a wander around? DD has gone in the past including camping for the weekend.

DD's ex has gone today so she has his horse and is happy. I have just seen her out riding the shared horse she has, they were on a bridle path inside the woods. The horse is very distinctive, an Appaloosa/TB so his spotted hind quarters were visible through the trees.

    Back to names:

Have you used your father's first name yet?

We have a religious / family tradition of naming after family members who have passed away and not the living. So DS1 was named after my grandfather and OH's grandfather. DS2 left us puzzling for ages as they was no deceased family member waiting for their name to be used.

We tried him out with a name for a few days but didn't like it, so he became "baby" for a few days while we rethought.

No - but my Dad's first name doesn't actually have any meaning for me, really. I've never heard anyone call him that, or thought about him in connection with the name, and so it wouldn't do. It's also not a Jewish / Biblical name (Robert). I don't think it would mean much to my Dad either, the only people who ever call him that are cold callers and passport officials (-:

OH says the same thing about not naming after living relatives - he says it's like measuring people up for a coffin, saying they don't need the name any more. Although his mother's brother is Isaac / Yitshak as well, it was obvious we were calling him after OH's Dad, so there was no issue there.

The thing that bothers me about Elijah is that we had a cat called that, Yossie's brother. If it's iffy naming people after living relatives, I'm definitely unsure about calling our son after a dead cat!

On the Eurovision topic, I did have to smile somewhat at reading Nigel Farage's attempt to turn it into a major political story:
Nigel Farage has said bias against Britain in the Eurovision song contest shows how hard it will be for the UK to secure a good deal renegotiating its relationship with the EU.

This, from a politician who spends his whole life trying to be as rude about Europe as it's possible to be!

No comment. I have huge problems with his political views anyway :)

We're going to play a game tonight; how far can we get a selected cover of the Armenian song around Europe on Youtube.

If any NP want to join us, you're welcome!

I'm hoping for something like director of forensic investigation and regulatory engagement EMEA, which translates roughly into "bloke who reads some emails and forwards them to the regulator".

I always hoped for "Director of Financial Procurement," which I've always interpreted as meaning the guy who knows all the managing directors darkest secrets and gets to drive an obscenely expensive car to the golf course for work every day.

Never got anywhere close. Le sigh.

I went out to the garden and planted up a small strawberry pot with bedding plants, not strawberries.

Then thought I would prepare a bit of the veg patch ready to plant out my courgettes.

Dug over a small area, it needs digging again and the clods breaking down but it was only about 6ft by 4ft and not hard to dig, lots of worms etc.

I had started to dig from the other end of the patch when I realised my feeling of exertion was more than that. So I have come in, tested, am low, eaten a teaspoon of strawberry jam and had a hob nob. Now I am on here and will test again in 10 minutes.

Earlier today I had to wait whilst my levels dropped so that I could go out to the shops.

Very annoying . Given how much I like food, it is irritating I am not even much of a jam eater and not that keen on biscuits.

Our dog was already named when we got him (Ben).

OH has a good friend who has done some building work for us. He lost one if his children a lovely young man, named Ben.

When he was here working I felt awkward calling the dog, friend however took it in his stride.

I mentioned this in passing a day or so back, but for anyone who missed it. There's a new MOOC (online course) from a company called edX, called Becoming a Resilient Person, the Science of Stress Management.

It's for people who are dealing with high levels of stress or whose resilience levels are low, perhaps due to long-term chronic pressures. There's a description at the website below, but given what we've been discussing for several months now, it seemed quite timely:

    https://www.edx.org/course/uwashingtonx/uwashingtonx-ecfs311x-becoming-resilient-1652?utm_source=edX+Course+Announcements+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=c2d1424d3e-Student_Newsletter_May_4_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_237694b56d-c2d1424d3e-61243421#.U2oRqygTdEN

It's basically for people who have to deal with chronic stress and to teach coping strategies to people who may not have benefitted from such teaching in the past.

Hope you don't mind me posting... not aimed at anyone in particular, but looks very good.

Has anyone signed up for this course? I'm looking at the T&Cs and they mention taking a webcam photo of yourself and photo ID. It's not entirely clear whether this is just required for those courses which are assessed and/or provide verified certificates, or for everyone.

    Does anyone know?
