Today we resolved that a small item of work to be done this year was blocking up a door.

There was five hours of other stuff, but this was the highlight. I'm also going to buy a cheap back door. Enough is enough.

If you literally mean blocking up a door, I have two door-sized pieces of chipboard I'm looking to be rid of :D

Ent out with a group of women friends for dinner this evening. Checked levels, ate carefully.

    Checked levels before driving home:o

A friend has driven me home miles out of her way and the (courtesy) car is parked 30 miles away. OH and I will be out very early tomorrow to go an pick it up.

Question to the nice peeps who know something about mobile calls/data plans.

Is this - (the Virgin Mobile big text and data) - a good deal?
And I suppose the 'unlimited' bit only applies to the 45 days bonus after joining?
    http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/vm/genericContent.do?contentId=payasyougo.our.tariff.shop.sm285

If this deal sucks, any other plans you'd recommend? It needs to be payg and provide enough data for low to moderate browsing/emailing.

I'm trying out the 3-2-1 plan from Three. It costs 3p per min for calls, 2p per text, and 1p per MB. Apparently, if you top up online (min £5) then you get 150MB free to be used within a month.

I don't know how that will compare with the PAYG data tariffs from Virgin (who my usual mobile PAYG calls-only tariff / number is with).

I will monitor my usage on PAYG for a month or three, then make an informed decision about whether it's more cost effective to stay with 3-2-1, or go onto one of those monthly contracts (i.e. not tied in beyond a month).

There was some discussion on the NP thread earlier this year about substantial cuts to legal aid.

A judge at Southwark Crown Court has, today, stayed a prosecution for fraud in relation to 5 Defendants, because they cannot get any barrister to represent them at the lowered rates. He refused the prosecution application to adjourn, and instead stayed for abuse of process (translation - chucked the case out).

    That won't half cause trouble!

Indeed; bet those involved in the other big fraud cases scheduled for later this year are either panicking or rubbing their hands in anticipation (depending on which side of the fence they are on) at the moment. I think the prosecution has a day or so to decide whether to appeal the ruling by the Southwark Judge?

    3) Ought I to get my GP to test me for anything? And if so then what - iron levels or cortisol or anything else?

I didn't know they could test for cortisol - is that offered on the NHS?

Well done on doing the right thing. There's plenty that would just drive home. After all you'd beat the breath test still.

I am only too aware that I am driving a courtesy car from the accident repair centre for a reason.

My decision making was also not impaired when I voiced my problem. I think my saving grace may be that I am able to speak up when rational, as when I got into the car to come home I said I would check again just in case I was OK..friends said i would be higher and i was, and I think would have stood up to me if I had been irrational.

    YES!

    Yes it is.

To test for enough cortisol its an am blood test, very simple. ( opposite not so simple ) .

Edit: worth mentioning because we discussed before on the thread adrenal fatigue ...this is not regarded as 'real' afaik.

Oh Spirit. How frustrating for you.

I'm very glad you're safe, though.

Am hoping they can get your levels under control soon.

I knew there was a test. Didn't know the test was on the NHS though. It's partly because I'm aware that burnout and adrenal fatigue aren't regarded as "real" that I asked the NP whether they thought I should ask for it.

I'm really not fussed what the label is, or whether those are the right labels. I would like a simple way of explaining to others roughly what's wrong with me, so they can have realistic expectations of me, and I would like to be helped to find ways of getting better.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

A label is fab. You're right that it enables you to explain succinctly, then expand upon that into specifics.

e.g. without my Speshul label, I could tell you I don't want to work as a waitress as I am too clumsy/uncoordinated.... and that'd be laughed off. With the speshul label, I know that it's actually a feature and has a name of its own - dyspraxia. So, instead of sounding like a lazy/weak/pathetic whiner who says they're clumsy I can now "pin" it on a specific set of traits that convey the fact that I really DO have issues that would make me unsuitable to do something.

    Labels are brilliant.

It also prevents me feeling useless if I DO try to carry things - because I know why I can't.... so I know it's "not me" so to speak, it's the speshul bit.

I can't even carry 3 simple items. After 2 my brain gets confused and it all goes haywire. e.g. even if I walk into a supermarket and pick up a jar of coffee, a packet of loo rolls and a 1Kg bag of chips I am suddenly unable to function.

I just paid for one privately at an NHs facility. If you like I can tell you how much it was, I'll need to check invoice. It would have been available to me NHs if I had been on that route and it suggested to test for it.

Where you might have issue is convincing need, your OH nurse is the person who can advise with that and appropriacy I would have thought.

Hi all. I see that the thread has been ticking along nicely without me. Sorry that I have been too busy/stressed to look in.

I am pleased to report that my minor scare has turned out not to be an issue. And we are off to Norfolk for the weekend soon. That's my news.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
