In the world of coincidences, directed to michaels:

A friend's kid has also got 50% scholarship to a drama school in your town.

It appears pretty much all the students are new (and therefore almost certainly on'scholarship') but for us it works, 75% off = about 55 quid per DD per term which is what most activities cost and for this one they get 3 hours per week rather than 1. It is a lot cheaper than music lessons.
    I think....

One might argue the music lessons give more precisely demonstrable skills often.

They most important thing is they are enjoying and getting value ( in all terms) from what you are working hard to provide. :)

Michaels, have you managed to schedule in any time for 'you'? Or an appointment with a different GP?

(Men) barristers have to wear separate collars and shirts, because a court collar is different from a normal one.

It's considered bad manners to wear the shirt on the way to and from court without a normal collar and tie.

    You Barristers are weird

Lydia dear thing, its late.....are you tired?

    Night night!

Only just seen your post. ;)

Well, I was and then I wasn't and then I was and then I wasn't. I did stop reading MSE before midnight but didn't immediately follow that up by going to bed. :o

    Good morning. :hello:
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Sounded like an MFI sale, everyone gets the discount and no one ever ever pays full price. But friend is savvy on these things, so it should be value for money on what you are paying.

OHs work clothes are variable, every Friday is dress-down-Friday so that is jeans. Rest of the week is smart trousers with a shirt. Unless anyone from the parent company is flying in, when it is upgraded to a suit with shirt. Tie is added for anyone really important.

Overseas it is suit, shirt and tie for first time meeting, then gets progressively downgraded. Denver meets are always jeans, I don't know if that is a reflection on Denver in general or just the company he visits in Denver.

Dh is suits for client meetings and 'smart casual' other times. No denim. He did actually have a pair of odd coloured jeans which he wore some timed but the pocket has come off them so they are gardening trousers now.

Thanks. Too late for Ch4 or 4+1 but have set it to record on 47. :) Am also recording the programme that immediately followed it on 4+1, also about taming "unteachable" boys. I so admire teachers who can do that. I am useless at it. My teaching skills are much more to do with the other end of the spectrum.

Close. He was the head in Educating Essex, which was the year before Yorkshire.

I can do the lower end of the spectrum. With enough time and 1-1.

Twitter feed on the first programme was interesting. Half the tweets were "they need a good slap".

The rest were linking the parents to the problems of the kids.

I think this is where you have to "be the parent". Good parenting is all about putting your foot down and guiding children to the best outcome, so you get to have your own way with them thinking it's their idea .... now roles are reversed and you need to figure out a way to get your parent to think it's their decision to do it .....

Having said that - it's not easy. Any form of moving, and especially downsizing, comes with a huge dollop of reality check - there simply aren't the right places for sale out there! The right one never comes along. Per sq ft, when downsizing, you really don't feel you're getting your money's worth at all. If you have a £200k 3-bed house it's a shock that a £100k house isn't half the size, but 1/5th of the size.
