My relationship with maths is odd. I didn't particularly well with mahs at school, but I did come top out of 220 people on my software engineering course in it. I think it's a mixture of not seeing much point in it,and different types of math being better for some personalities than others.
I don't necessarily believe anyone is bad at maths, I believe that many people never got the right teacher or found the type of math that their personality is suited to.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Wow - I see LemonJelly as being well read, an encyclopedia of music knowledge and an all round good chap but wrestling....never have guessed that one in a million years:eek:

Living in Australia is sometimes like living in a gritty 1970s cop show. One of the main stations in the City is called Winyard (pron. Win-yerd). It has a crap pub like many British mainline stations. On Friday evenings it has 'lingerie service', that is women dressed in bra, knickers, stockings, suspenders and heels serving beers to tables in return for decent (by Australian standards) tips.
The rest of the week it's just another crap pub.0 -
Scantily clad ladies and a meat raffle. What more could a guy ask for?!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I did ok at maths until A-Level. Then I had a teacher who had been employed as a music teacher and the day he arrived was told that his music teaching post had been otherwise filled but he would be required to teach maths instead.
He had A level maths and fessed up in the end that he was 1 chapter ahead of us in the text book. He hated teaching us and we didn't like being taught by him.
The part of maths I am very good at is estimation. Ask me to multiply 325 by 1,064 then I can't give a definite answer but I can get within a percent or so within a few seconds. Often times close enough is good enough.0 -

Well indeed.
I love living in Australia but there are some bits that I'm equivocal about.
Still, at least in the Western Suburbs (think Romford) we have a part of Sydney where Jelly Wrestlers can continue to express their art despite the repressive system of the patriarchal illiberal socialist system or something.
Meat raffles are huge over here still. I can't imagine that many living in Greater Sydney live more than a 10 minute drive from a weekly meat raffle.0 -
About 70% are still alive after 5 years. As we caught this early and treatment continues apace and I'm young (normally a bad thing with cancer I think but a good one in this case) I reckon I've got a much better chance than that. Simply not having the waiting lists must push me up the survival curve.
That's rotten news, Gen but as tumours go you're right that the prospects are promising ( and that's not always the case for younger people). Good luck with the next step.
Don't hesitate to talk as much or as little as you like about it here. We're not strangers and you can put a face to a name for a lot of us now. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

And jelly wrestling, apparently! I can see why it caught your eye.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
