Rent period runs 24th to 23rd.
Letter, with section 13 enclosed, dated 1 April.
Current end of rent period would be 23 May, so increased rent due on 24 May.
Is that right? Or is it a technicality they should have given me more notice?
I've looked it up - they have to give "... the Tenant at least 1 months’ notice" - which they have done.
As a contrary opinion, and probably something that should go on the Nasty People thread, you could always just stop paying until all this is sorted out. Let them find you and sue you if they can be bothered.0 -

Doozergirl said I should still do the searches malarkey though.... it all just feels like wasted money.
However, I am trying to compare/contrast these costs with renting - and seeing the cost as "rent not paid". With end costs of about £3500 that's just the same as paying about 5 months' rent. It's a complex equation really of rent -v- loss of interest and increased bills.... but there's the priceless "no ferkin agents wanting to do inspections or put the rent up and no random knocks at the door that turns out to be the LLs wanting to come in"
Overall, after 2 years I'll have more than covered my costs of moving in and the cost of moving out, so it's "all profit" after 2 years.
It cost me about £500 in agent fees to move in here!!! Compared to the solicitor bill it makes you realise how "cheap" solicitors are. Just last week I had FOUR separate letters from the agents telling me the rent's going up and trying to "con" me into signing another AST and paying £125 for them to print it out. Pfft.Today so far I've cleaned my bedroom, done the washing, cleaned the windows.
They were very mucky after the winter we've just had. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

My intention is never to rob people.... no joy in that. Also, who knows what might turn out to occur in the house buying process. Best to keep your nose clean and your head high ....
I'm too old to get into shenanigans.0 -

Really rather good.PasturesNew wrote: »I'm also excited at the thought of Xmas 2014.... I'll have a tree/lights/baubles - and will be able to find a suitable sized side table and position for these ... and then think about decorating the room with other things, like tinsel and paper chains etc
Renting/moving has meant I've kept personal possessions to a minimum as anything owned would be extra things to move next time. When you know you're 'settled' you can not worry about these things
The whole lot will be going up on 28/29 November (as that's a weekend)
Won't happen that blimmin early though!:pIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

The decs I put up last year were mainly ones my parents loaned to me. I think they were intending for me to keep them, but I started gathering my own in the sales. I have my eye on a real tree for this Christmas (last years was our childhood fake one!).
Its lovely hearing you guys talking about making places your own0 -

It's quite horrible to live through it though ... so much mental energy without being 100% assured of the outcome.
I've just been looking up the price of tension rods and swing top bins. Saving all the locations, prices, info etc for "when/if"0 -

It's still fresh in my memory. I am the person who didn't tell most people about my new job until I'd started it (just in case).
Is nice hearing you talking about what you could do seeing as I'm yet to get going on really doing very much at all0
