I bet that if you looked around you could find something suitable/ that could be modified - something like those wall stickers/ forest wall papers that have been linked to here before.
I'd probably be less brave and more interpretive.
I'd paint the fence an airy but not too sweet shad of misty blue ( while a more pastel shade would suggest beach hut, a greyer/greener hint could be sea on a summer day when the real sky is blue or interpret the colours of both sea and sky in the off season. Any she'd I'd paint a more beach hut blue and white or cream, (depending on what sort of she'd depends on stripe direction for ease:)
Light planting of things pn doesn't have to take care of or think about again..., some welsh poppies would also look great with blue and bring sun in the garden, maybe some sea holly......0 -

Walls will remain whatever they are (magnolia?) and at some future point I'd paint them white (2015-2016).
I see it as giving me a focus for what to buy and why ... a "theme", rather than picking random/unmatching items just because they were cheap and I needed something.... wouldn't ever "blow the budget", but it might mean I'd buy plain/pale curtains, rather than patterned ones ... which I might, in time/with some experience behind me, then hand print with appropriate stencils in a subtle way...0 -
This could then become the day plan: Get up, go into the sunny living room, smile at the beach effect, take my coffee out onto the patio ... and sit there for 2-3 hours ... before getting the bike out of the shed and ambling to the beach (1 mile away) for a stare/paddle and pick up some shells/nice pebbles to take home. Return home via the chip shop..... to sit on the french doors doorstep and eat chips out of the bag.0

I've just been considering .... in my house ... giving the whole living room a "Beach Hut Look"
As I can never afford a beach hut (can afford to buy one, but the annual costs of ownership are about £1500 for rent on the space, so that's not feasible) ... I figured: why not turn the whole living room and the garden into a beach hut/beach scene
Given enough "oomph" I could even consider painting the end fence as a sea scene with a row of beach huts painted on that too (of course, that'd never actually happen as I can't paint one colour, never mind painting "things")lostinrates wrote: »I think it sounds fabulous.
It is something you have loved for a long time and would make you smile.

I love the idea. John Lewis have lots of beach hut knick-knacks.
Just googled beach hut decor and there are some great ideas.
To finish off you could have a bowl of pebbles rather than a vase of twigs.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think "we" (NP) decided I didn't need one .... I'll have to look back at what was said.
Doozergirl said I should still do the searches malarkey though.... it all just feels like wasted money.
However, I am trying to compare/contrast these costs with renting - and seeing the cost as "rent not paid". With end costs of about £3500 that's just the same as paying about 5 months' rent. It's a complex equation really of rent -v- loss of interest and increased bills.... but there's the priceless "no ferkin agents wanting to do inspections or put the rent up and no random knocks at the door that turns out to be the LLs wanting to come in"
Overall, after 2 years I'll have more than covered my costs of moving in and the cost of moving out, so it's "all profit" after 2 years.
It cost me about £500 in agent fees to move in here!!! Compared to the solicitor bill it makes you realise how "cheap" solicitors are. Just last week I had FOUR separate letters from the agents telling me the rent's going up and trying to "con" me into signing another AST and paying £125 for them to print it out. Pfft.0
