I'm glad we are hear for each other to moan to. I think it keeps the rest of our lives much more sane!
Sort of Counselling-Lite... I agree it's great to have somewhere to moan.I think it's a good preventative. But just a warning that if you're (this is the generic "you" not any person specific stuff) past the preventative stuff while it can still be good to moan it still may need professional help. Speaking from my experience. Post parental deaths I was totally do-lally, helped by some online friends, but it took serious Counselling for me to begin to get myself together... And I'm not there yet, soon as the next couple of complicated weeks are over I'm going to make appt with my Counsellor ASAP.
Oh yeah, and there's the hoarding tendency coming to the front too. Part and parcel of it all I guess.
LiR, sorry you had such a bad day.Hope that you feel better tomorrow, and you can have a nice weekend with FiR to mitigate the horrors. Hugs from friendly Liverpool.
Green dress, purple shoes and pink nails. I think I'm going to be a walking talking version of 'When I am an old woman I shall wear purple'
There's worse places to be, speaking as an old woman!:rotfl: Your outfit sounds a bit like what DD1 wore as her wedding outfit. This pic (deleted now) doesn't get the colour of her dress right - emerald green rather than the turquoise it looks like.
And also speaking as an old woman (I'm guessing 65 counts as "old" since I've been getting my pension for over 5 years now), I tend to wear red and orange and yellow... Wore purple rather more when I was younger! :rotfl:
Nikkster, your outfit sounds fab to me. :j :j :j Hope you have a lovely time at the wedding, and maybe a random kiss too!0 -

Is this sufficient? Is a more detailed survey necessary? Or too much?
If it's what I think it is the mortgage company requires it but it doesn't tell you much that you can't work out yourself and has so many disclaimers that you can't sue anyone if it's wrong..“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

We need a picture.
Are you wondering whether you need to stage an intervention?!
You could possibly get pics of the dress and shoes without me in them. I'll be saving my ability to force myself to be in a photo with good grace in case it's needed at the event itself.
Once the nails are finalised and tidied up tomorrow I'll happily post a pic of them. I'm going to miss them when they're gone (prob Mon).ukmaggie45 wrote: »Your outfit sounds a bit like what DD1 wore as her wedding outfit. Love the dress. And the shoes. And the sash.
Your DD1 looks gorgeous0 -
She does indeed look lovely, a gorgeous dress that really suits her....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I figured I was about to splash rather a lot of cash anyway so I might as well 'go large' on the survey too. They still don't lift up carpets or anything too adventurous like that, and there are plenty of disclaimers in the report.0 -
Your daughter's outfit is gorgeous, Maggie!
What you're all describing and what Maggie's daughter is doing is called 'colour blocking'. It may be 'old woman wearing purple' but is also very fashionable!
It's even evolving now to clashing prints, so anything goes!!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm not a fan of the homebuyers survey, lemonjelly. It's all a bit 'well, we'll have a bit of a look and point out the blatantly obvious, but if you don't pay for the full whack you can't hold us responsible'. What your aim should be is to know everything you can know about the house and then have someone to indemnify you against existing problems that they might miss.
If I personally wanted peace of mind and the budget of a homebuyers, I'd have a gas test, an electrical test and a structural engineer look at it. All of those have professional responsibility and those are the most expensive things.
A surveyor will tell you that you need a gas test, an electrical test and a structural engineer to look at it. When you have a homebuyers survey, they will also tell you that the wallpaper is a bit dated.
If you opt for the full building survey, they will still tell you to get the gas and electric tested but they'll spend longer looking at everything else.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Yes, that's me, up with the latest fashions. Colour blocking was definitelythe look I was going for. Honest guv.
Actually, I've just realised - my nails match the inside of the hood on my slobbing-around-the-house hoodie. This is looks less thrown together than my outfits usually are!
I don't think I own anything with an animal print on it. I have a top with little birdies on it, but nothing zebra/ tiger/ leopard etc print.0 -
IMO any thing works with the right green. Nature says so. Love the green and purple combination. I also adore purple and orange. And orange and pink.0
