Tomterm, your attitude just gets sexier and sexier. I would not enjoy being laughed at. DH doesn't mind at all. I think this preeny attitude is often the difference between failures and successes...like you!

I am awed my friend, awed.

I have two girlfriends who constantly bleat about the lack of nice men our age and I always want to yell about you and lemon jelly.
    What's stopping you?

I am not at the enjoying bike riding / rushing down hill at high speed phase but I am at the wobbling around unexpectedly plunging towards random trees phase of relearning to ride the bicycle.

Also, huffing and puffing may be an apt description of my progress:D

Yesterday I heard neighborhood children laughing at my progress so at least someone is enjoying it.:D
I hope to get a bike at some point when I move & start cycling. I don't care if people laugh, as a) I'll have my mp3 player on, so won't hear them & b) I know that I'll be able to go on some AWESOME cycle routes when the weather is nice.:)

Probably ought to add that I have actually no intention of creating any of the items in the aforementioned book. It was just curiosity at something I couldn't quite believe was real :o
Methinks the time lapse between the original post & this one is a bit much, & the lady doth protest too much...;)

Oh Doozer. That sounds miserable. I grew to hate the house I lived in before this one because I couldn't keep the kids' mess under control and so it was always a blight on everything. It was in the wrong part of town, and lots of things were wrong with it.

I was there for 5 years. I am much happier here, even though I still don't keep on top of the kids' mess - although it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. It's the part of town where I want to be, I chose it, I own it, and it's been built properly!

So, to be practical ... Are you stuck there indefinitely? Or is there any realistic prospect of moving any time soon? Would the building dirt problem follow you anywhere you went? Have you hated other houses in the past, or is this one much worse than anywhere else?

Hugs, anyway. Living in a house you hate is pants. :(
I really really hope that I'll be happy. The idea of not liking your home is one of the most desperate feelings I feel.

Next time one of them comes I'll invite you for supper, huh? I think its too far for Tom term to come, which is a shame. One of them is a lovely woman, left leaning even Lj.......culturally on the pulse, funny charming. I am very excited for her at the Monet because I kicked her up the butt about something not romantic and it seems to have worked.

Sadly this means she is now kicking me very hard In return......ouch, ouch, ouch. :D.

Had a bit of a lovely experience at work today.

The CIO (I for Investment, pretty important in an asset management company!) was asking how the treatment was going and I said I was off to get the Big Results tomorrow. When he found out I was going by myself he asked if I wanted him to go. The incredible thing is he genuinely meant it.

He leaves on Friday and will be very sorely missed by a lot of people in the company.

I've been very positive all week about tomorrow but I'm starting to crap myself about it now. I just want all this to go away, it's too hard.

The kids have decided that my scar from my parotidectomy looks like a bottom and now refuse to hold my right hand 'in case I poo cancer on them'.

Whilst it is difficult now, in a weird way, it'll be over before you know it...

Chin up fella. Think about the news stadium that'll be pheaseable by 2017!

The thing with the kids made me laugh at first, but on reflection made me shudder. Could be seen to be funny, but also desperately sad.

    Be thinking of you mate.

Thanks Lydia. I never really wanted to move here and everything that could go wrong around it, has. I finally convinced doozer to sell up a year ago but getting it to a point where it's saleable feels constantly like taking one step forward, two steps back. This time last year, I thought I'd set myself a realistic target that I'd have a garden to sit in this summer - somewhere else. As that creeps up, I'm becoming more despondent.

I step out of the front door to mud. I step out of the back door onto mud. Having two dogs here and an open plan house is a recipe for complete disaster. It doesn't feel like it belongs to me at all. I stay in my room or my office. We don't invite people here.

I'm completely in awe of lir and how serene she manages to stay when faced with rather large disappointments. If I'd mentally signed up for this, I'd be better at coping, I think.

I believe in a kind of karma. Given how lovely you & your family have been to others this year, then surely good will come to you.

& If you want/need me to help shift boxes & stuff, please shout. It'd be the least I could do.:A

Tbh, it looks like some one writing like me rather than my writing. My writing is very spidery and a bit unpleasantly mean. :D.

Indeed, (going and coming) and what friendship is a bout. :).

That sounds good. Bike riding is great fun - I've been assured of that by experts:D

One good thing about round here is there are plenty of country routes without scary traffic. I just have to get good enough to ride them :)

Bit jealous of the cycle route! We were right next to it in Kings Norton for a while; we'd walk Doozerdog there every day. DD learned to ride her bike there. I came without my bike, thinking she'd need help, but I ended up chasing her for miles!

I daydreamed of riding all the way into town for drinks by the canal, but I found the allure of being next to the train station too great!
