Thanks Walcott. That bunglow looks nice too. I think I should call these guys too. Any idea about any more properties around this area.
As you said since there is hardly any prob in areas after cippenham lane they will be my preferred choice.
Thanks for addresing my biggest concerns. I think this is the only area I can afford and ticks all the boxex including schools for my yet to be born baby
thanks again. Really appreciate your help0 -
Some very good schools are around there. I believe that Bungalow is in the catchment for Burnham Grammar and I Lynch Hill is an outstanding primary and around 5 min drive from there.
Keep an eye out for Lewin Way. Houses are same era and style as the one you are going to see tomorrow but they are slightly bigger so have a small third bedroom. They usually come up at the £250k mark. Having said that though the downstairs is probably slightly smaller than the one you are going to see because that one is extended.
Keep us updated on how you find them

The smell from the water works can't be smelt by everybody - my husband and son have NEVER noticed it, even on days when I consider it quite potent. I can smell it, but having done a lot of my growing up in the country, it doesn't bother me.
It obviously doesn't bother a lot of people, judging by the way the houses on the Cedar Park, Windsor Meadows and Eton Green estates sell.0 -
Thanks you so much everyone. I think I am all set on a house in Cippenham.
The one that I went to see on Saturday was a nice area but the rooms but just too small. I think I can get a bigger room in that price as Walcott suggested.
Can you guys please suggest me any good streets within cippenham? Also will it be possible to get your child admitted to burnaham primary or lynch hill primary if you live in cippenham?
Thanks so so much for your help. I am really glad I joined this forum0 -
My son goes to a playgroup in Cippenham and a couple of the other parents that live in Cippenham do have their children going to Lynch Hill.
Cippenham is a fairly large part of Slough though. It starts at the M4 and extends all the way up to Burnham so it really depends on where you decide to buy. IMO the best parts of Cippenham are the other side of Bath Road to where you saw the house off Cippenham Lane. This is a small area that covers Station Road and a couple of streets running off it and then onto Burnham Lane. Going the other way are the bungalows/houses behind Cippenham Park. But TBH the housing in your budget here would be just like the one you saw at the weekend.
If you want bigger your best bet is to head towards the estates around Earls Lane. Obviously the deeper you go the closer you will end up to the M4.
Just had a look and there is one on at 260k near Elmschott Lane which you might be interested in. This one is 3 bed and bigger than what you saw at the weekend.
Just a thought, but are you sure you could not find a 2 bed in Langley for below £250k? Back when I was looking 3 years ago we found 5-6 2/3 beds in good condition at around the 190k-210k mark around the Trelawney Ave area. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks a lot Walcott, as always. TBH I couldn't find any thing in langley for £250k. went to see another house in randall close langley, 2 bedroom, completely run down, would take another 30-40k to make it liveable is going for £265k.
But i am still open for langley. if I find something in my budget or slightly over I will go for it.
Was wondering if "the other side of Bath road" is actually britwell. I went to see a lovely house there few days back really cheap but then everyone scared the s"*t out of me

Hahaha I made the mistake of going into Britwell too when house hunting! EA said it was Burnham but it obviously wasn't.
No, other side of Bath Road is not Britwell. I am basically talking about from where the 2 bed bungalow is past the park and then onto Station Road and then Burnham Lane. On Burnham Lane there is a Tesco Express - you have to turn in there and drive up to the roundabout to get to Britwell so there is good distance between the two. BTW I think Lynch Hill Primary is in Briwell.
Langley is definitively possible for you. I don't know that area well but when I looked at houses there I just found it a bit grim (not to say it isn't a nice enough place to live).
TBH in your shoes I would probably be looking at the one you saw (at the right price) or the bungalow. They are smaller but the areas are quite decent. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
There are some areas of Langley that I wouldn't venture into after the hours of darkness, seriously some bits are grotty! Have a look on the Police crime stats website and the amount of reported crime in parts of Langley is....interesting.0

TBH the thing that really put me off Langley was the delusions of grandeur. I have never met a person from there that doesn't pretend to be from Windsor.
Plus the majority of reasonably priced housing just looks depressing around there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi Guys,
Its me again. Just wanted to update you guys about my property search and ask for your valued opinion again:).
I put offer on 2 houses and they have both been selected. One house is on littlebrook avenue which is close to burnham station and the second one is at amerden way cippenham.
Which of these in your opinion would be the best one to go you think? is the amerden way house too close to sewage and might have smell issues?
As always it will be great to know your thoughts and thank you so much for your help on this0
