    Basically relocate. Not far but barking isnt a good area. To pay alot for it is insane. Try Romford or Dagenham or hornchurch. Get something better for cheaper in nicer places to live.

    More than 10 years ago I had a letter published in the Independent. I was replying to someone else. He had said that all London weighting on public sector salaries should be abolished in about 2 years to give departments time to relocate out of London. My reply said just what you have said. I also pointed out that hospitals, schools and universities in London would not move and would still need quality staff. I work for one of these and still get London weighting but it has lost all meaning. It is now just above 2K and has not increased since 1991. My salary remains just under the 32K median.
