Just a Rightmove search for 2bed+, <£1000pcm, London.

If you remove flat shares and look exclusively for 2 bedroom houses in London for under £1000 there are less than 30 15 properties available. I looked at quite a few of the ones that meet the criteria and in my opinion they are very grim (i.e this one), although I'm not familiar with London so I can't comment on the areas.

This is a map of the properties that meet the criteria, red marked properties are shares.

really, in places that you would want to raise you children and would feel safe walking about in at night?

Can you provide some examples please?

Quite a few available if you move away from tube lines - a quick search of places like Bromley and Crystal Palace came up with lots. (Although I'm assuming flats are fine, unlike PP since OP is in a flat at the moment)

This is a great website to help work out what areas are cheaper than others by tube line. Plus looking at local rail services opens up big parts of London which have great transport links but aren't on the tube.

You're clearly getting very different results to me. I'm seeing 314 properties, of which only 44 are flagged as share. 51 are flagged as houses, although of the 2 "detached", one is clearly a flat.

And if you think that's "very grim", then...

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/Essex.html?maxPrice=1000&minBedrooms=2&displayPropertyType=houses&oldDisplayPropertyType=houses&propFeature=Garden&propFeature=Parking

684 results for min 2bed houses in "Essex" with garden & parking up to a max of £1,000 pcm.

    Something must be suitable.

I ain't here to discuss my personal life whether or not I should have kids, stick to the topic and if you have enough information whether you should earn 36k a year to rent 2 bed house London then comment on it otherwise refrain making comments.

I don't think many Londoner earns more than Average of 25k a year or less.

If you think that, hop on the 135 Bus, get off at Canary Wharf, and have a wander around the shops and restaurants.

£25k average in London?! In your line of work you mean, not everyone earning a salary? Even as a secretary, I get in excess of £37k. Others here (at the company I'm in) earn in excess of a million a year.
