Tesco ..... Again

If the shop doesn't take payment immediately there are people who will spend the money again and blame the first shop for making them think they still had money they had already spent. So I guess it's helpfull to those people.:rolleyes:0

there seems to be a lot of "i think" and "i guess" so in fact there is no real reason, technical or otherwise that we cant be credited back immediately.someone from a bank please reply0

I bank with Barclays so do not know how other banks operate. When I buy something using my debit card the money I have spent is 'ringfenced' and comes off my available balance immediately. This is apparent if I look at my online statement. The actual details of where I spent the money etc take a couple of days to appear. Same if i use the card for an online payment. i assume the refund works in the same way, it is back in my account but just not actually showing the details for a couple of days.
Even if my few pounds is kept for a couple of days for interest purposes by the bank I really don't mind. A very small price to pay for free banking.
Poor Tescos get a lot of stick don't they? Remind self never to apply for a job on their CS desks.0 -

I'm not from a bank but I do know how it works. As I said on the previous page:me wrote:All merchants accepting debit/credit cards have to process refunds back onto the card that was used, that is part of their merchant agreement.
Refunds are processed in exactly the same way as payments, and just as debit card transactions can take around three working days to appear on your statement, so can refunds.
This isn't Tesco setting the rules, it's the way the banks work.
When you use your debit card to purchase something, the money is earmarked by your bank immediately, but the debit/credit actually takes place two to three working days later. When you get a refund onto your card from (say) Tesco, the money is earmarked in Tesco's bank immediately, and the debit and credit again takes place two to three days later, in a similar way to BACS transactions taking two working days.0 -

What about "After being married for five years my husband/wife told me that he wanted a divorce and is moving out. The thing is, I had been using Sainsburys and Asda coffee for five years and on the day my husband/wife told me she/he wanted a divorce I had used Tesco branded coffee".
What are my rights? Is there any compensation? I paid for it by my credit card, are they responsible too?
After reading this, I burst out laughing and spat coffee over my keyboard. If I cannot get recompense from the poster, do I have any claim against Tesco's?US housing: it's not a bubble

Anyway I queued up in Tesco CS and told them that I wanted compensation for the trauma that I had caused through them. The staff were being so rude, kept rushing off to help the person whos head had cracked open - TOTALLY IGNORING ME (MEMMEMMEMEME). Anyway I wrote a letter to Sir Terry Leahy. Still waiting for a response and its been 2 days!
I think Tesco should pay up and apologise to me and the person who I bumped into. They should also pay alot of refunds and compensation to me.
I think its disgusting how they behave.
I will now use a supermarket with smaller lettering on their windows, which DONT cause uneccessary attraction.
BTW should I tell the Trading standars and the Advertising commision?
I thought, "Are you being sarcastic?" Then I noticed you posted the comment. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

I bought it for my DS birthday 4 months ago. I spoke to the manufacturers to see if there was anything they could do, they told me it was dead as a dodo and I need to take it back to Tesco and get my money back.
I paid for it by debit card and they were going to give me my money back by debit card but I didn't have it on me so I asked for the money back. They had the hard drive, the receipt for the thing and details of my name and address. They said no, they had to give the money back by debit card so home I trailled to get my cards. I also had a look on Tesco's website about refunds. This is what it said
"If you have arranged for the refund to go back onto your payment card, it will usually take 3-5 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your card issuer. Cheque refunds will usually take 14 days to arrive. Payment for the replacement item will be taken immediately"
This is unreasonable. I went back to Tescos and had a discussion with their electrical manager as to why they can take payments out of my account immediately but refund payments within 3-5 working days thus depriving me of money which is mine. She agreed to give me the money at that point but has anybody else had dealings like this and does anybody else think it is unfair or is it just me ?
You're lucky Tesco even offered to help after 4 months! Some companies would tell you to go to the manufacturer for any repairs after 2 weeks.
When you pay with a card, the shop has to refund the money to that same exact card. It's the rules, and no, Tesco didn't invent them. If you have a problem with it, take it up with your bank.0
