How can I go about declaring myself bankrupt? what is the procedure? Please advise.
Hi zpacey,
Your first port of call should be to contact one of the Debt Charities; see links below. Their services are free; they have no vested interest to serve; their advisors are professionally trained and the advice they give will be objective and in your best interests only. CCCS operate a system of telephone appointments that are designed to be flexible and don’t require you to attend an office based interview. At the CAB you will need to make an appointment with a specialist Financial Advisor; other advisors may not have the specialist knowledge you’ll need.

If you’re advised that bankruptcy is the most suitable solution to your financial problems then we can offer the best support and anecdotal advice that you’ll find anywhere on the Web.
For more specific advice and support, in an environment that is managed by people with first hand experience of bankruptcy, and moderated to ensure that no deliberately inflammatory or abusive posts are made then please visit:

Just remember, as desperate as you may feel at the moment, we have all experienced what you are going through at the moment and with the right support and advice things will improve. It’s not an easy route to take but it is a route that will put you back in control of your life rather than just reacting to events.
If you want an excellent account of the before, during and after bankruptcy from the perspective of one that's living through it then I'd suggest reading "wherediditallgo's" Bankruptcy Diary.

Hi Neko,
You must find yourself writing the same thing time after time to somebody who posts for the first time and it's all relevant and it's the best advice you can give; consult one of the Debt Charities.
Take into account that this web site is the target of some really desperately inadequate people who will conjure up the most unlikely scenarios just to laugh at the time and effort people put into writing a meaningful response and you might as well just post a pro forma response and then see whether the poster is genuine or not.
Is that cynicism???? No, it's not (talking to yourself in public Rich:eek: ) You just want to make sure that the time you spend is constructively spent.:D0 -

Hi Toomuchdebt,I might miss you in the morning but you really have done everything you could or should do. You won't be able to get rid of the butterflies just try to get them flying in the same direction. :DI won't wish you luck because you don't need luck; I will wish you all the best though

I'm flattered to think it's worth nicking; of course I'll expect royalties and donate them all to a worthy web site. :T0
