But pre-reg means you won't get full value from insurers for your car if you write it off and re-sale value is hit hard by the 2 owners

Unless you're planning on selling or writing it off within roughly the first year, that brief extra keeper will be utterly irrelevant in resale value. Even within time, it'll almost certainly be massively outweighed by the reduced price you paid.

There may well be arguments in favour of buying new versus pre-reg, but saving money over the total cost of ownership is definitely not one of 'em. If you're picking a vehicle from stock, rather than a factory order where you really want a specific spec and options, you're shooting many of those remaining reasons down, too.

A trax is not going to have great resale value anyway. Unless it is long term purchase you are going to get a huge hit on depreciation regardless of any of the discounts available.

In terms of reliability, Chevolet comes right at the bottom of the JD Power survey, and these are cars between 12-36mths old.

GM is withdrawing the brand from europe as it cannot compete with the other low-cost rivals.

No wonder the trax is being discounted, as the withdrawal will increase the depreciation rate.

And that's only going to get worse once it's orphaned.
