NPower suddenly appears on my file

I can't take out any credit, on a DMP you see.
Not that I'd want to, or should have to, to sort this shower of sh!te out!
My wife has suggested using her credit card to pay it off so we can switch suppliers, but then there'd be the card interest to pay, whereas at the moment with nPower all I'm paying is the outstanding balance.
So that's a last resort, but I'm going to see how far I can get with their formal complaints system first.0 -
SRT I'm so frustrated for you after reading your post. I know exactly how you feel. I've said several times NPower should just fold!! They couldn't arrange a **** up in a brewery. I've never known anything like it. My only saving grace with my complaint is that they have acknowledged their back-billing policy which means that their failure to bill me for over ONE YEAR means they cant charge me for the usage so i wont be lumped with a massive balance. Although I'm dubious about whether they will honour that without a fight when the time comes, i know what a bunch of con artists they are!
How much is your balance? I would definitely dig your heels in and argue that they should let you leave without penalty AND let you make payments to clear the balance. I've argued this with them myself and eventually they said it could be considered - once they get to me as I'm one of many, many billing complaints, their words not mine!!0 -
Remaining balance is about £500-ish.
Going to waste my lunch hour on hold to their complaints department in the hope of speaking to someone.
Ideal scenario is being able to move to another supplier and maintaining a separate arrangement with nPower to pay the balance off, and maybe even some compensation for balls-up after balls-up after balls-up (but I'm not holding my breath on that last part).0 -
Well i got a good will gesture of £25 - life changing!0

£2.50 back from them would be a result at this point!0

Hi Neil
NPower all of a sudden appeared on my partner's Experian credit report as well. We have been their customers from 2009 but they only added 2 last months March and April 2014 where March indicates as late payment! This is just as we are about to apply for our first mortgage.
We have been having a lot of problems with billing with them since December 2013. After numerous phone calls and written complaints we have agreed to set up a direct debit with a promise (which we presume was recorded) that OUR CREDIT HISTORY WOULD NOT BE AFFECTED because of what happened (our tariffs were messed up big time) in December 2013.
Obviously the promise was totally ignored and forgotten!!!
Please can you suggest our further actions as we need to apply for a mortgage asap. How do we go about a dispute? If all conversations are recorded we should have a 100% proof that NPower promised not to affect our credit score in any way!
