You can get married at 6pm! I think evening weddings are really nice and a little bit different0

Funny you should mention that I did a lot of googling last night and came across that one and I have e-mailed them with high hopes... I am fed up with all these hidden costs but it seemed pretty straight forward.
Shall keep updated but I think once the venue is in place the rest should just fit together ...hopefully.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

The only other solution is to do it the year after....or this year without a honeymoon as OH wouldn't be able to get the time off.
I shall re think this getting married at 6pm..! I just thought people don't get married at 6pm I didn't even question it... :rotfl:
They're getting later in my experience- the last few I went to the ceremony started at 3pm, so 6pm didn't seem that late in comparison.
Personally I think you've got the right idea, wanting to book a village hall. I know you've still got to plan it to some extent but you could make it as laid back as you like. Just my opinion of course but I think a village hall wedding in the summer would be far nicer than a hotel- it'd be far less formal, you could have your bouncy castle, and have some cheap, easy catering like a festival catering van, afternoon tea or a hog roast. If your OH is more keen on a sit down meal than a hotel, that's still a possibility. Village halls tend to have big kitchens so you could hire in a catering company to cook and serve the food.0 -

No law to say you have to have your honeymoon immediately after... we got Thomas Cook vouchers for wedding presents and took our honeymoon 1 year later, and we sent everyone a postcard to say thank youWe did also have a sneaky week in a cottage in Wales straight after though!
Don't forget to save things like Clubcard vouchers - we bought our rings, bestman & ushers gifts and our wedding gift watches with them which saved a fortune2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Well just to update, the Lion h*tel is getting under my skin a little bit now
I e-mailed them and they didn't reply, so I rang them and they said they had something booked that day but they are regulars so he might be able to move them to another room (and I did mentioned I had e-mailed them and he was nice about it and apologised about not getting back to us to be fair) so I said I would e-mail him my phone number so he could get back to me and *just* as I was getting off the phone he said something about Friday which confused me.
So I am guessing he thought I meant this year....so in my e-mail I made sure I put 2015.. but I havn't heard from them!
Think we are looking at about £2500 their though.. thats without all extras dresses rings etc.
So I've been thinking *maybe* I could perhaps plan this myself get a hall with a kitchen get caterers in? Have a sit down meal then a buffet in the evening space for a bouncy castle?
I think I would be able to do that for under £2k depending on the caterers? Then the extra is extra I guess!
Gah.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Gah.
I would expect it to quite a lot less, yes. It'll probably only be a few hundred pounds to hire out a village hall, so that's a huge saving there. Catering will obviously depend on what you have, but you'll have a lot more flexibility choosing your own caterer. I'm sure most would be willing to discuss cheaper, easier to prepare options that would come under budget.0 -
Thing is I've spent hours and hours today trawling the internet...why o why can't I find one???
Theirs one pub in mind but I haven't been their and it's got a rough reputation but the pictures don't look *to* bad...and all the little stuff I have no idea how to do but pretty certain no bouncy castle.
I suppose their is one hall I know of that is big enough and has a kitchen - not sure if they have an outside bit though, but that's just a hall / kitchen no staff etc so what do I do about decorating the room? Will caterers bring their own plates and wash up etc? Who will take the tables down etc ....I could do with having 'a person or two' for the day if I do it myself from nothing lol!!
**** this I am asking facebook someone will have a decent suggestion who lives near me!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Let me know what areas you're looking at and I'll see if I can find anything that would fit the bill. The caterers will bring all the cutlery and clean up after- you will have to pay them extra, and if you're having a lot of guests they might need extra staff to serve, but as you can shop around you should still be able to find a good deal.
As for taking the tables down I guess they might be willing to do this, but again at extra cost. Might be worth considering asking the best men and bridesmaids to help out with that though; it's not going to take long if they all pitch in after all!
EDIT - Just seen you're in the Midlands, same as me. This village hall is in Warwickshire, so not too far, and the best I've seen so far. It's got a large kitchen and grounds so you could have your bouncy castle.

I also found this lovely cottage nearby which would be a great place to stay the night:

In my experience, quite a few smaller venues won't take bookings for more than 12 months ahead. Maybe that's why ...We're all doomed0
