Best Electric Lawn Mower for medium size lawn

I know you said you don't want a petrol mower and for years I had said the same. After a chat with my FIL a few years back after my not very old Flymo died I got a petrol mower and to be honest would never go back to an electric mower now. I just got a relatively cheap one from Homebase and it's now about 6 years old and still going strong. I think we have had it serviced once in that time.
Just a wild card for your consideration."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
As far as medium priced electric lawn mowers are concerned my vote would go to Bosch for performance. The grass box on this model is not really user friendly which is a negative. Also the Bosch Rotak 430 Ergoflex does weigh 12.4 kg so it is heavy. Nothing is perfect but in my view is is the best for the price. Also as mentioned on an earlier forum it does come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty.0

We only have a small lawn and prefer a Hover Mower. We have a Flymo Glidemaster and it does its job. No problem with it so far.0

If you are looking for a more sturdy lawnmower you might consider a Mcculloch or Webb. Otherwise Bosch is a good all round optionfor a Rotary mower. If you prefer a Hover mower then stick with Flymo.0

Have had Flymo's, hated them, no use unless your garden is flat level straight, any lumps and it takes chunks out of it. Plastic blades rubbish too.
Qualcast cylinder one, blew up after getting caught in long grass.
Now have Bosch rotary, had 3 years, not one ounce of trouble, cuts well , only issue is small collector, but not major issue. Blade was quite cheap too to change when I had a run in with a cement lawn edge I forgot about, sending 1/2 the blade whizzing through the air 20 feet away !0 -
I notice that B and Q are selling the Bosch Rotak 430 Egroflex at a reduced price of £129. The reviews seem to indicate a good performance but the grass box is the main negative not being user friendly. The one advantage with the Flymo is the grassbox is very esily removed for emptying which does not seem the case with the Bosch. So I am still in a quandary which would suit me best. Has anybody got that Bosch lawn mower and re the reviews about the grassbox fair .0

I think some of the references to the Rotak grass box on the B&Q site relate to the initial assembly of the box which I recall was quite tricky for me too. Once assembled though it is no longer an issue.0

The Bosch Rotak 430 Ergoflex is an good lawn mower and does its job of cutting the grass very well. The grass box is extremely fiddly to assemble, but it is fine after that is done. Our biggest disappointment with this lawn mower is the handles do not fold down, so is is big and cumbersome to store in our garden shed. If space is an issue ensure you should look to find a lawn mower where you can fold the handles down. We were misinformed when we purchased this machine but its their word against ours. Our old Flymo which is an inferior machine was much better for storage because of the above issue.0
