How do we get my alcoholic father into rehab, or what help is available to him?

You've had good if somewhat robust advice and I realise it's hard to accept but for your own sanity talk to Al-Anon about YOUR feelings. My fiance lives with guilt as his previous partner died in her forties of alcohol abuse. He still questions if he could have done more.....forced her into rehab etc. I knew her too and I know there was nothing more he could have done because she simply didn't want it enough....and that sadly is the case for most alcoholics. If you can accept that your Dad's illness means his need for alcohol comes higher up his list of priorities than hurting himself or his family you'll be able to deal better with his illness and balance your family responsibilities and help everyone.
