Hi everyone, and thank you for all of the congratulations and good wishes.

The cheque finally cleared this morning (yay), so they can't take it back now - the money is ours!

We spent the last few days discussing what to do with it. Funnily enough when it came down to it, we couldn't think of anything that was desperately needed. We had already booked and paid for our first proper family holiday this August, and our car is okay (nothing fancy, but it does the job). In the end we decided to max out two ISA's in the new financial year (depending on what rates are on offer), and buy a few treats for ourselves. Nothing really extravagant - an outdoor plaything for the boys (not sure what they are called but one with a playhouse, climbing frame etc), an Ipod for me and a laptop for OH (we share at the moment), some new clothes and a new cooker. It will pay for another holiday in few years time when the boys are all old enough to really appreciate it. OH is thinking Disneyworld, but that's my idea of hell (sorry) although I'm sure the kids would love it. We will keep the rest for a rainy day (or two).
I know that money isn't everything, but we haven't stopped smiling since we won.

ETA - I forgot to mention that we also donated to charity and sent something to the children that we sponsor through Worldvision.
  • Well done! I bet most of us have now planned how we would spend £20k:) I think I might be like you- a few treats and then money in the bank for a rainy day.
