As a rule of thumb a hardship application should be process with 2/3 working days but the entitlememt to hardship may not be from day one of the sanction. To claim hardship you should also have to provide evidnce such a bank statements to show payments are needed.
People are normally paid hardhip from the 15th day of a sanction at a 40% reduction. Only a small number are eligble form day one of a sanction.

so when you correct me is one of my posts to say hardship payments were availble from day one you failed to mention that not many people at all would get a hardship payment from day one, so my point was correct that MOST people have to wait 2 weeks for any money at all if sanctioned, by all means correct me but it would be nice is you had give the true picture not the governements spin.

Unless a claimant can prove they fall in to a 'vulnerable' category, requiring a special diet for example, hardship payments cannot be applied for until two weeks after benefits are stopped.
I wonder does needing "food" come under "special diet" as doing without would kill you just the same as needing to eat gluten free food and the like.

What true picture are you asking for?

To be eligble from day one you have to be pregnant, live with a partner who is pregnant, lone parent or part of a couple with young dependant children. Next a DM will look at other income in to the household, Illness and then monies available. When the application was made, when the sanction was imposed, how long the sanction is for along with access to any other provision.

the true picture as you have posted above that not many people get a hardship payment from day one.

how ridiculous, you can get one if pregnant or have young children but not if an adult male or an adult none pregnant female...guess they can go without food for 2 weeks but not if your pregnant.

Whilst I was sanctioned I was still required on 'sign on' as normal. The system is crazy...

I wonder what they would do if you just signed on and didn't bother looking for work, seems to me it would be less stressful to just receive hardship payments then applying for 64 jobs a week that you would stand no chance of getting, saving your time and the employer's, I've even started seeing ads on direct gov site saying only genuine applictions need apply.

The sanction was my stupid fault. I was asked to sign a form declaring I hadn't applied for a job they asked me to apply for. Naively I did sign commenting the job wasn't for me.

The reality was I had already being interviewed for this particular job on previous occasion and both the company and I mutually decided I wasn't right for the position. Thankfully I had emails to prove this which I gave to the DWP for 'reconsideration'.

I can recall the no claim for two weeks aspect. As mentioned above I had the sanction (that would have being for three months) overturned. That took six weeks at which time the hardship payment (40% JSA rate) was awarded.

Looking back I think I fell victim to the sanctions regime. Thankfully I had funds that covered me for that six week period. I shudder to think what would have happened if I didnt.

Whilst I was still required to 'sign on' my regular JCP adviser didn't really push me at all. She saw I was unfairly sanctioned and just allowed me to 'sign on' with minimal review.

What's the point of sanctioning people for non-compliance if you're going to give them money anyway?
