4g contracts worth it?

Really looking at note 3 soon. I know t mobile & orange do 3G contracts often with unlimited data for £10 or more less a month than 4g sim contracts.

Is it worth paying £40 or more a month for capped 4g data for 2 yrs?

When at home I stream vids via wifi

At work I use mobile data for email, FB, eBay & a little web browsing

And is orange & O2 generally best?

Only you can answer if it's worth paying £40 a month for a phone. I would say no. But if you want to pay that much, go for it. Can you get 4g where you live? You could buy the note for £400 or whatever it costs then get a sim only contract. You would almost certainly save money and you'll be able to change network or tariff whenever you need to.

    I see what you mean

Options are get rid of my 2 devices, fork out an extra £200 to get the phone for ~430 & pay 12/mth for unlimited giff gaff (3G?) data, working at 670 total

Or sell my 2 devices, keep cash in bank & get tmobile/orange unlimited 3G data for ~30/mth, total ~720

Or fork out more per month for 4g limited data

Either way, buying it outright or on contract, the note 3 is expensive, it's a given

So it's whether the 4g capped data of 2gb/4gb on a 'cheap' ~40/mth is worth...leaning towards no at the mo

Three o2 and Tesco offer 4G for free on a contract. If your with them, or about to take a new contract out you may be able to get 4G without more cost..

We all have breaks. I'm at work now and my boss is in the room but I'm still on this site :-)

There is another problem - 4G is data ONLY!
Your device need to perform so called "fallback" to 3G in order to make/receive a call. And many devices has serious problems doing it properly.
Effectively no one can call you, when you're using 4G.

Already helped some of my friends, disabling 4G on their phones, as they had problems with calls.

Lighten up old man, I am my employer!

Not on 02 or Tesco. Giff gaff, no 4g announced

Heard 3 offer unlimited 4g & they have decent contracts though £99 handset

    Didn't know 4g data only

These places offering 2,4, etc 4gb data...when that runs out, are you on unlimited 3G? Guess no?

    Really leaning to 3

Voda offer £15 handset & 33pcm for 3gb which may not be a lot but best deal. But heard voda are crap

On EE that's hardly a normal result. EE 4G runs around 30Mbps and double speed between 50 and 80 Mbps.

For example, on "double speed" EE:

You misunderstand the technology and you should stop messing with your friends phones. LTE is currently for data only (until VOLTE is implemented), but this DOESNT mean that you can't make/receive calls. All current phones are quite capable of maintaining voice over 3G at the same time and should you need to make/receive a call the phone will automatically drop down to the required service to do so.
