No, you are wrong, not all employers will behave the same. Your reason for going to prison is, to me, rank stupidity and naivety. But that would not mean you could not do the job. Now I know what you did, I would offer you an interview if your CV was that good. I would put you down as young and gullible, but perhaps you should be given a chance.

As I said, if you get the interview, that means you have already got past the main hurdle and they want to hear what you have to say. It is these interviews you want to concentrate on.

So, the number of interviews you are offered will diminish, but at least you will know you are in with a chance from the outset.
It was stupid, every day for 22 months i thought about how stupid i was. I could of just asked my parents for some money but instead was tricked by the thought of easy money. Still though, how do i write being in prison on my CV? I dont know where to start.

Personally I also believe anyone should get a second chance

The problem with CV's is that they don't give you a lot of space to elaborate, if you are trying to keep everything to 1 or 2 sides of A4. So, you are factual in relation to time served and why.

You then use the covering letter to say what you have here, that you were young, impressionable, made a mistake, but used the time productively to improve your qualifications.

Covering letters usually stay with the CV, you are judged on what they say as well, so this is your chance to shine.

Good luck. Everyone deserves that second chance in life. Remember to pay it upwards when it happens to you.

Any prison sentence will appear. I may as well just say what it was so people know. It was for 4 counts of possession with intent to supply. My girlfriend at the times brother asked me to carry a "bag of green" into a musical festival for him and paid me to do so upon going in there was a sniffer dog, i tried to run and was caught by security. The bag of green turned out to be over £2000 worth of A and B class drugs. As for Asia, its a nice thought escaping where nobody will judge me but i'm on license so it isn't possible.

Are you sure that won't rule out working with vulnerable people? It would also pretty much mean your chances of getting into a lot of Asian countries are small given y'know, that's a drug conviction & all and they don't really muck about over there!

Looking at it have you done anything with your HNC or would it be entirely possible to set up as an independent sparky? Then you only need to hope that your clients don't find out about your history & frankly most people don't CRB check workies.

I would advise voluntary work too, both for you to build your self esteem (you seem to be hard on yourself) and to prove to employers that you are hard working and trustworthy.
I am a manager in the care sector and from what you said, it wouldn't exclude me from employing you (if you were suitable for the role), but I would expect to see it on your application, I have interviewed people who have said on their application "one conviction in 2005 am happy to discuss in full at interview" however if the first I know about it is when the DBS check comes back, I am then wondering why it wasn't declared and if the candidate is honest.
In the past I have employed staff who have convictions for theft etc and even assualt, we have a risk assessment process which looks at the individual circumstances, the offence and the chance of offending again/putting the people we support at risk. I am only saying this to give you hope that some employers will look at employing you. Keep trying and try not to give up ~ good luck

The problem is that by refusing to sign on for jobseekers allowance you are also refusing to get a lot of the help that is available for someone in your position.

My instinct says that you may need to consider becoming self-employed. It's not easy to get a job at the moment, and there are lots of people without your background that are struggling.

The fact you chose to run when you saw the sniffer dog means you knew you were carrying drugs. Sounds like you're trying to sugar coat the facts. Someone who genuinely got made a fool and doesn't realise he's carrying drugs would never run.
