But if the Co-Op's management don't do anything about it, then the Co-Op are going to have a lot of disgruntled ex-customers who will never shop there again (myself included).trisontana wrote: »What a waste of money! If I was a CO-OP member I would be writing to senior management complaining about this, and the impact it will have on member's dividends.
What effect will that have on dividends?!Philip0

I have being sent a Claim Form for court proceedings against me with Civil Enforcement Ltd Liverpool stating that they have a contract with the Co-op and this allows them to manage the car parks belonging to the co-op. They claim that I parked in the co-op car park and sent a picture of my car; the windscreen was blacked out so no driver was visible and it must have been taken by a hand-held camera, not an automatic one as they claimed. I parked in a limited time bay on a public highway which the council confirmed was under their parking regulations. This was across the road from the co-op car park.
I contacted customer services by telephone and they admitted that they have had lots of complaints about this company but cannot get out of the contract they have with them! I said that this wasn't good enough and by employing these people they were allowing them to cause their customers to be harassed and distressed. I also emailed them a complaint, stating that I no longer wished to be associated with the co-op and would never shop there again. I have been a customer all my life (56 years old) I believe they have responsibility when employing anyone to ensure that they act in a proper manner, and certainly should not try to extort money out of people who are only shopping in their stores. They have not replied as yet!
Has anyone claimed compensation against this company for wrongful accusations and distress caused?0

mariadear, you require specific advice as the claim form from the court is a serious matter. Please start a new thread for more advice. We will need the following information:
 1) All dates (letters from Civil Enforcement Ltd, the claim form etc)
Before you start worrying about who you can claim off of you need to resolve your issue first. And by way of a quick note then someone can be held liable for the actions of their agent or employee, this is known as vicarious liability.0

My local Co-op ( or at least the closest one of any size ) has been sold to Waitrose. It will be interesting to see if CEL remain in the car park once it switches. I guess that will answer the question of whether the Co-op are the landowner."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0

PS - just thought, if they do remain I may have to get a charge. I do know a colleague with a CEL charge from there she's ignored so I will have to let her know the score about the Co-op paying it off if she complains.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
