Autotrader should do more...

It's nothing to do with Autotrader, they publish the advert but make no arrangement for payment that is down to buyer and seller.
If I put my car up for sale, you get in touch saying you want to buy it. I say I'm in Europe, send me the money and I'll send you the car but we can use a escrow system (which is fake). Sending money to someone unknown for a car in a private ad you've not seen is just crazy.
You can't legislate for people doing stupid things.
With all due respect, if someone is stupid enough to fall for that....0 -
And they're back:
Autotrader
Autotrader
Autotrader
I get really annoyed about this as they are so easy to spot and eliminate. All reported but they will be back tomorrow.Je suis sabot...0 -
The actual links dont go direct to a car but scroll down the also available and there are plenty of scam ones.
Lots on the Ford and Honda links.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yup -- Autotrader have removed them. They obviously know they are scammers, so why can't they weed them out?
They just keep coming back:
Audi
There are six scam Audi ads at present and they all look similar to this:Je suis sabot...0 -
Maybe if Autotrader get enough negative publicity, they'll take it more seriously?

Nowt you can do about it. Stupid people are the cause of all problems in the world, but ironically are what keeps everything working and because more SP keep appearing, supply by the 'cleverer' people in the way of scams, extortionate finance, overvalued products, brighthouse type places, payday loans etc will all increase. If stupid people didnt exist, society would fall apart.
In short, we need these adverts.
Example of stupidity in a post on front page...

Imagine all the cash the op has generated for wages/dividends at the finance company, tax for govt to improve services, all because they didnt do something most non stupid people would - read the effing thing they're signing. I need another ardbeg.0 -
You could ban any advert asking to contacted via email?
Or They could put trigger alarms in adverts (price, wording as does ebay) which would notify auto-trader immediately?
There are quite a few ways of preventing this kind of stuff but it costs. Autotrader budget is not ebay's and ebay still has issues!0 -

You and Jaydee (and anybody else for that matter) should not have to bear the responsibility for people's gullibilty (is there such a word?)
It wouldn't be so bad if the scam was a sophisticated operation, I suppose it's the greedy as well as foolish that will fall foul to the advert. For me the moment I dial the number and it doesn't connect then I'm onto the next advert.0
