Tesco nappy buyers/users

Hi there,

I have been a regular buyer of Tesco nappies for LO as are most of my friends.

Just bought a packet this week and noticed they are of 'new' design. What do you think?

Personally very disappointed with the overall quality now, certainly not as good as before.

Don't seem to absorb as much and don't seem to be as good a fit?

Anyone else feel the same?

And has Tesco stopped selling the small handy packets of wipes @ 48p?

None in my store today and barcode label gone:mad:

That's quite interesting as i thought the new design is better and more absorbant.

I've even started using them at night instead of pampers because they don't leak at night like the old ones did.

    Absolutely rubbish!

I tried Tesco nappies again two weeks ago (used newborn briefly previously) so presumably they were this new design you speak of. I was so disgusted with their poor quality I took them back to customer services after 2 days use and said (honestly) "this product falls below the high standards I expect" and they were exchanged for Huggies

I just thought what's the point? They cost 13p each and I had to use 8 a day because they could only hold one pee each so that's £1.04 a day. Huggies super-dry are 17p each and I only use 4 a day as one pee just gets totally absorbed and the nappy isn't wet until the next so that's 68p a day.

I was right the first time, Huggies really are cheaper. At least I got 2 days of free nappies though huh?!

I couldn't see those Tesco ones lasting the night. Oh and I tell you what I really hated, the imaginary elastic! The nappy just had no give to it at all in the strips and there wasn't enough hold round the legs for my liking either. Just as well I changed back to Huggies before DS got diarrhoea last week :rotfl:

EDIT: Re the Wipes, I usually buy Huggies in a value pack; four packs for £5. They're twice as thick as other wipes so again work out cheaper but these have disappeared from my Tesco too. I looked at all the wipes and noted a lot of wipes have changed so I'm afraid I think what's gone is gone :( I tried Johnson's new value pack this shop which was 4 for £5 but of course they're ultra thin so you need more. Not happy! Don't know what wipes I'll get next time. For travel packs though, you can get a twin pack of cheapo travel wipes cases off ebay or from the pound shop for £1 and I've used them since birth without problems. Fit very nicely in a standard lady's handbag.

I really like them I used to be a fan of huggies but when DD started nursery I changed and they use tesco, i have been using them for well over a year now and the new design is even better and i think that they absorb more and as my DD has just turned 2 her wee's are much heavier and the nappies holds a lot more. :) Im happy.

Do you know what though? I do wonder if our differing results are actually because I have a DS and you have a DD? Without getting too "detailed", my DS winds up with a big wet bulge out front in any nappy that isn't a Huggies super-dry... :rotfl:

I think part of it is always going to come down to the child as well as the quality of the nappy.

Still think Tesco are rubbish though!!! :p Sorry, just having a chuckle.
  • I prefer tesco and always have done. I find asda and morrissons are totally rubbish, huggies leave lots of crystals on my dd's bum which i hate, pampers (the ones in the box of 88?) i cannot stand, i find when she has pee'd in one of these i can feel the wetness soaking through to the outside. These findings are not because she is left in her nappy and it is totally full of wee i must add. she has her nappy changed as soon as she has had a wee and always has done. I can't ever imagine only changing her nappy 4 times a day like some of you, regardless of how 'absorbant' the nappies are!

Luckly my dd (just 2) has taken to potty training like a duck to water- and now only has a nappy on at night. I must admit that I find the new shape fits so much better.

One the wipes side- I only used to use Pampers or Johnsons wipes but I found that Tesco's own brand (the scented) are equal, if not better with a better price tag (on offer for 3 for £3). My mum bought dd Sainsburys own 'Little ones' wipes (not sure of the price) and they are absolutely gorgeous to. DD has quite sensitive skin and neither gave her any reactions- unlike Huggies wipes where she ended up with bum rash for ages.

Yep, the new tesco ones are rubbish, and more expensive to boot.

DD is quite slight around the hips so they tend to slip off - not good when she's not only done a wee (if you know what I mean  )

Thankfully, we only use them at night as she's in washable nappies the rest of the time.

I'm trying to persuade her that using the potty would be a great idea, but she's having none of it...(she's 2.5 years!)

I used tessco nappies all the time for my dd who is now 2 1/2 and they were great.

I bought some of the 'super dry' new design for my ds last week and they leaked all the time. they were very flat and thin like cardboard. They are not the same as they used to be, or unless they have just changed the smaller sizes?

I may try the cheaper 'essentials' range.

Sainsburys seem to be ok and boots. But huggies are most reliable, but yes they leave alot of gel on baby's skin!

Think I am going to complain to Mr Tesco....Noticed a freefone on the pack today..

Hadn't noticed the price change. What is it?(I must say I noted lots of higher prices in Mr Tesco yesterday, in line with a change around of products in store..)

Having tried huggies, pampers, boots I thought I had a real 'find' with Tesco as they were once far superior.

Have bought Sainsbury today, but so far not impressed.

Thanks for your replies so far..

The newborn Tesco nappies were fine on my baby, but she's just grown out of those. I've been using Tesco size 2 ones this week. They're generally ok, but they don't contain explosive poo's so we've had a few changes of clothes.

I've bought some size 2 Huggies to see if they stop the leaking problem.
Here I go again on my own....
