  • Hi there! Back from Leeds and was shattered. The trip was expensive & while I'll get a certain amount back from work you never get it all back! Took the plunge & added it all up and while stil depressing I have paid off £6116 since last year & that is £382 a month - despite being crap but I'm hacked off with myself because I was doing so well - CC's were at one stage down to under £2000 but now £8322....OK deep breath and just start again. Some days it's just SO hard being in debt...
Good news is that I got £42 for babysitting last night (they didnt get home until 1.30! all more dosh for me!) and now on call for weekend so that all helps with paying stuff off & with the Olympic challenge. Will list my lighterlife packs this weekend and have a general tidy and chill today.
Thanks for the encouragement & well done Mol for doing so well! You've been briliant in sticking with it! My problem is I just love shopping but will have to resort to charity shopping as I need new clothes for winter but want to stay in budget! It's payday on Friday so I'll crack on & reintroduce my spending diary (my biggest tool) & leave the CC at home again - that is definately where I've gone wrong but having it back in my purse! Time to get back to the "if you cant afford it you cant have it!" mentality unless its a dire dire emergency like washing machine dying etc...Should get a fair whack paid off this month as due a refund of over 80 from powergen, freezer is stocked and I have food in! I did debate cutting out WW but need it at the moment in terms of "real people" support with food! I think if I just cut down to the bare bones I'll be OK!
Part of what has worried me is the general financial situation and the news yesterday about northern rock etc...it is a worry! I'm praying that interest rates go down soon as my mort has gone up so much! Like many but it does impact! Debating switching to freeview but need to investigate! I mea how can a girl survive without living tv eh!!

Hi Fishface..glad you're ok..and don't knock what you've paid off as that's good...if you hadn't knocked it off you'd owe loads more so be proud of what you've done....you know where your weaknesses are and you are addressing them...you have to look forward not back!!!...I would def carry on with wws as you know you need group support....You've got plenty of shopping in so that's a great headstart...good luck
  • thanks taxi! Have made a HUGE decision today! I have been hanging on to my Virgin media package and have decided to ditch that and my monthly gym pass! I'll get a freeview box (any ideas on this as I dont know much about them & am rubbish on technology stuff!) The gym is a local one but I pay 29 a month and the month I dont go its wasted so false enconomy! Whew. What a relief that was! For some reason the virgin thing has been a real sticking point for me but I'm getting fed up of the totally dire customer service & for much of the time have the TV on, rather than watching (while typing on the internet!!) & waiting for greys anatomy to come on C5 wont actually kill me (even though it feels like it!)...I'll survive! Yes taxi the WW is important & if nowt else a night out!!
Just watching x-factor and wondering whether people actually ARE dellusional!! If they're not on medication already they should be!! Nuts!

Hi Fishface...you'll be pleased to know that Freeview is dead easy to set up as I did mine myself....I just picked one up in tesco £20...I think they are cheaper now...put the leads in where it said..plugged it in and pressed a button..that was it!!!!...well done on making the deciscion and look at the money you will save...they are definitely deluded thise on X factor!!!!

  • Well I've done it! I am now on the free TV (meaning I dont have to buy a freeview box!) with virgin and am actually crying! I held onto that for over a year and rather than feel liberated I just feel gutted that my fave channels are now gone. I know I'll save money and thats good but with very little social life at the moment it was my main source of entertainment. I'll get over it but feel bereft already! The phone and broadband are now (flippin heck that was quick...!!!!!! - channels gone within 5 mins of phoning - why cant they answer the phone so quick eh!) at their cheapest but I'll have a hunt for boradband as pay £18...At least I've saved myself the cost of a freeview box...cheerup savings of £348 for gym cost plus £240 for TV & £40 for freeview box so thats 618 knocked off - 51 a month less worry. Probably worth it but will take time to adjust!

You'll soon get over it when you pay that extra off the debts and see them going down...you can always come on here more when you're bored...I have no social life either...
  • Thanks taxi...some of course will be screaming "why didnt you get rid of it earlier" but there we go! Just got my AQA pack so doing that at the moment!

Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks...it can be considered but ultimately is your choice to make at the end of the day...nobody elses...at the end of the day we have to feel comfortable with what we do in life!!!

    Hi Fishface 16_3_205.gif

We got rid of our sky package a few years ago now, and while I am sometimes sorry that I can't watch things that I think I will want to watch, I soon find something else to do for free.

It normally enjoys my laptop and MSE..........what more of a social life does one need 11_9_10.gif
