Tax credits looking after grandchild
Comments
-
According to this link i provided earlier...it says:
If you would like to become a childminder to look after your own grandchildren, you must also take on other (non-related) children, register with Ofsted and advertise your services publicly. If you are a registered childminder, the parent of the child will be able to pay you with the childcare element of tax credits.
That information isn't correct. In reality you won't get registered with OFSTED if you only look after a relative's child (or so I have been told) but if you are a registered childminder of other children and later only look after your grandchild - the parents can claim WTC childcare.
Approved childcare providers are those in Wales and Northern Ireland registered under approved schemes. There used to be some in England but no longer.
However, it is only the approved schemes that have the other children requirement in them as the HMRC website confirms.

I wouldn't bother spending too much time on this one folks...the OP can't make their mind what their postition is anyway...as according to her other thread she doesn't work, has no income, wants to apply for IS and is in the process of selling 2 houses...
Hopefully she may come back and give the full story and people won't have to get their eyes wet peeling an onion..0 -
I think they're trying to suss out different options given their change in circumstances.0
