  • Quick update.

    £70 to Tmobile - paid
    £60.36 to Vodafone - paid
£80 towards my old rent arrears from being in temp accommodation (I'll explain this in a second) - reduced payments to £10 a month now
£10 debt to Lloyds - paid
£208 to British Gas (so far, I'm billed quarterly and my next bill is not until 28th April). - paid electric bill of £90.41 and £160.32 gas due on 8th April :)

Otherwise doing well! Not been Roamling for a week as too tired (38w3d now!) and had work but been selling on eBay and making a little extra. Not much after charges and postage though :( still, every little helps!

Joined MSE cheap energy club! Applied to switch to Npower and got £30 cashback to boot! (cancelled this as new bill not printed yet and don't want to have to deal with two bills)

I don't understand this. You won't get the cashback if you don't switch, but I would avoid npower.

Yeah, I'm not expecting to get the cashback now because I cancelled the switch.

    Why would you avoid them?

I would steer clear of matched betting. You need to have a fair amount of available cash in order to do it properly, and a single mistake can completely wipe you out (and it doesn't always have to be your mistake). I would say it's not worth the risk in your position.

    Okay, thanks for the warning!

What about when you do it with completely free bets? Like the bingo £10 offers. Is that too risky too?

Just thought I'd mention my small success ;) I signed up for Virgin Media broadband only last week, and they were going to charge me £49.95 for installation! I called up today to 'cancel' and they waived the entire fee! Result :)

Going to cancel my tv license once this is installed, I think, then pay off my iPad when I have enough spare money x

I've not done any bingo recently (also gave up on matched betting when the sums involved began to scare me - just do regular gambling now which isn't very money saving!). But I remember it getting harder and harder to actually escape with any profits from the 'free' money, rather it just giving you money to play with until you lost it all. Check the T&C carefully so you know when you can withdraw.

Wow!!! Just found your thread and I am amazed at your maturity and determination. At 31 , I indeed find trying to juggle a home, children, husband, college, and so on a real struggle. I can see you are a real fighter and your little girl is a lucky girl indeed to have a mom like you. I believe you will look back on this period in your life and be proud of what you have achieved! As everyone has said go to surestart and you will find a support network there with activities and so on for baby and you to enjoy. I found them to be really supportive.
Shame that some 'adults' are unable to give good advice where needed....those people should be ashamed. It is obvious that you are not a 'silly girl' but indeed a mature young lady who was mindful to ask for help in a place you would expect to find it. I will be watching your progress with interest....remember slowly but surely. Life is not always easy but ' failure is the failure to try' . Despite not knowing you I am proud of your efforts and the manner in which you carry yourself. Good luck x

Hmm, I see what you mean! To be honest, I'm not too savvy with things like this so won't take the risk!
