Oh lovely! What are you going to study?
Xx
The long answer is that I want to do a degree, but I really want Economics and they only do "Economics and Maths Science". I don't really like maths and I got my worst grades in it at school. So I'm not sure I'd be able to cope with that. So I'm starting with on of the 10 point courses and seeing how that goes before deciding what to do.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hello folks
Hope you are all well? Sorry I haven't been on for a few days but I have had the OH staying and he hogs my computer:mad: I almost had to make an appointment to get on it to do my own work - well he's gone back to London now so I can work and chat to my heart's content.
Have been feeling a bit down today so much so that it was commented upon at work. I explained that I went to the eye hospital yesterday and have to take steroid drops hourly (a right pain in the jacksy if you ask me) and that I have to go back in 2 weeks when they will decide on whether or not to inject around my eye with steroids, in my eye or operate and put stitches in:eek:
I was mad today too because the bus driver decided to chuck everyone off the bus because he didnt fancy driving into the city centre - I had a horrid walk to work in the pouring rain and gusty wind, the driver was odd because he was cussing everything especially when we had a hailstorm on the way into Birmingham. One good thing, we had a short day today and I was able to come home at 3pm.:D
Cant remember if I told you that I came off Job Seekers on Monday and am now full time in my job as Events Consultant - mind it is difficult to do when there are no phones and no computers hence my having to do work at home whilst waiting for the office equipment.
Dunno what is wrong with me though because each day when I get home from work I have to have a nap (do you think its my age?). I am sleeping OK at night so that's not the cause of the daytime sleepiness.
Hugs to all that need them0 -

If you're on, low income, you can apply for funding. You need to have household income less than £30,000 and you can get your course fees paid and receive grants and things. There's more about that here.
I'm paying for mine though, because you need to apply for your funding at least 3 weeks before the closing date for applications for that course, and I wanna get started as soon as I can. If I do decide to do a whole degree I would see about the funding, though.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

You can do an "open degree" if you're not sure what to choose. That means you can do anything you like - so you can do a module of maths, a bit of law, and then some astronomy if you feel like it. Or you can do a degree in a named subject.
You can also just pick one module and do that, and then deicde to put it towards a qualification later (or leave with just one). They've also got certificates and diplomas and things if you don't want to do a full degree.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I'm a 'lurker' on this thread but thought I'd respond to the discussions about OU courses as I have tutored for them for many years (maths courses).
Juno - if you are concerned about the maths then do MU120 as an entry level maths course . in terms of content it is GCSE higher level but it contextualises the work. Many people who have found maths a problem in the past find that this course really starts to make things clear for them.
Steph - you really don't have to 'sign-up' for a degree just choose any course you fancy. The OU web site https://www.open.ac.uk is worth a browse. For anyone who has not studied for a long time a 10 point course is a good . A bonus of the OU is that courses start at different times of year -
10-point courses with codes starting with a 'Y' are Openings courses designed particularly to prepare you for undergraduate level study.0
