The Occupational Therapist phoned, and they want me to see the Consultant Psychiatrist and get a proper diagnosis. I suppose that is a good thing, but I'm worried that they'll tell me I'm crazy. Therapy and medication will be provided after diagnosis, which is good too. Maybe I can get better. Also going to talk to a volunteer placement lady, about doing a couple of hours volunteer work a week.

*hugs* they wont say you are crazy. Its good that you'll get the help and support you need now. x

    Well done on 4 stars!!

    How are you feeling today?

I'm thinking about voluntary work - what should I do? I used to work with kids, and also did some work with adults with learning difficulties. I like animals too. I don't know what I'm capable of though. I think that I can only do 1-2 hours a week - should I bother as that isn't really going to help anyone is it?

I'm good thanks, you? Voluntary work, however much or little you do, is going to help someone. I think it'd be a great thing for you to do :) x

I'm alright at the moment, very up and down which is scary. Glad to know that something is happening though - when they told me that they'd lost my file I thought that they were going to turn thier back on me like they did last time. Off to another AA meeting tonight, its the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

I shall phone the voluntary placement woman tomorrow to see what she has to say - hopefully there will be something suitable and nearby.

What are your plans for today?

I'm glad you're going to phone the woman, I hope there is something for you near by. I'm just going to go now and do some reading, so I'll be back on here later. Have a good afternoon x x

I honestly didn't think everyone would be so nice to me about it. slowlyfading is an ironic username - i was living with a girl with anorexia last year, and she said she wanted to fade away; I started on this site with debts that I wanted to disappear, hence fade away ;) lol it has all sorts of meanings!

    Can i join in?
I have previously suffered from depression having had 2 bad bouts requiring medication.
My partner has left tonight leaving me with £10000 of debt. I'm not too worried :o as i have a lot of equity £50000.
I have no child care so am now stressed and am crying uncontrollably. I need to carry on working but my head is in a mess. I know what i need to do but can't get my head around everything, feel like i need some moral support any body out there?

    welcome.gif maz!
Of course you can join in angel!;)
My sincere apologies hun for only just getting to you back on page 79 now. I haven't read all the way through replies angel but I know there's a wealth of compassion and strength here to be had from the wonderful guys on this thread.angel-smiley-002.gif

I'm so sorry that you've met our friend depression before hun and forgive me, but I'm even sorrier that you met this partner. I can imagine how shocked and shaken you're feeling angel.

The £10,000 that you're not too worried about needs to be taken to CAB for further advice. I know you have a larger amount of equity but no-one can afford to write off such a large amount. When you're feeling better hun, I'd follow this up, if not for your own sake, then for your child/ren's sake(s).

You're still raw and reeling from the shock maz. This will probably come and go in waves, but hang in there ok angel? Of course you can't think straight after what's just happened to you! You'll run through a whole range of emotions angel, but they can help you through the grief caused by the losses you've experienced.

List down the practical problems caused by this situation maz. They'll be easier to deal with.
Do you have any family/friends that could help you with child care hun?
If you child/ren is under 5, you may want to contact Homestart who help advise in such situations.
Again, I don't know your family set-up and I'm not a professional, but it may be worth a visit to CAB over your breakup to see what they can suggest re. everyday finances and responsibilities and whether your partner needs to be sharing any of them.
I hear you saying that you need to carry on working angel but you also need to be in a fit state to work. Is there any chance that you could take a week off to get yourself properly organized? A stitch in time and all that...wink.gif

You're in need of a lot tlc right now hun - and you can start by giving it to yourself.hug.gif
Don't be too hard on yourself and don't make any important decisions right now. This thread is filled with moral support hunnie - that's what so great about this thread.
I can promise you a welcome and friendly souls here when you need them.
I can promise you that in some kind of way, time will heal the hurt you feel.
But the really important feeling I get from your post angel, is that you've fought depression off before and even though you're feeling a world of hurt atm, I can see the survivor in you is already looking at ways to go forward - and that's amazing! action-smiley-033.gif
That doesn't mean however, that you're superwoman, and we're all here whenever you need us maz. One step at a time hun...wink.gifhug.gif
