Yer, I have been assured parts will be available for 5/10 years.
    At a price.
The 63 models seem to be holding their price quite well.
    The asking prices?

Chevrolet sold 7,465 cars in the UK last year (0.56% market share), of which over 70% were to car rental companies. Don't expect good resale value in the future, especially that the brand will disappear shortly (very similar to Daewoo resale values, well same company anyway).

Who assured you about the parts situation.......even over the last few years Chevrolet parts have been very slow to obtain.......sometimes taking weeks ....on the other hand Vauxhall parts are usually available overnight .

Whatever you do dont take reassurance from a car salesman.......they are only interested in their commission.

The 1.4T will be more powerful, but will potentially use more fuel when pushed and will be more expensive to maintain (it's a complex part so there will be additional servicing costs). I'd probably go for the 1.4T if the prices are similar though as it'll probably drive better.
  • Thanks guys, I would like a new car and the discount was a big bonus for me as I could get the 1.4turbo for £14k. The same price for Mokka is least £18k so I thought, hey, save £4k and it's a very nice car to boot.

I drove the 1.4 turbo and I was quite impressed, although I have never driven turbo before, so maybe I was easily impressed.
It just had a very nice feel to it, lots of extras, but I guess they are maybe all the same.

The 63 plates seem to be holding their prices according to web sites, but is that just people aren't aware of the breakaway from europe.

I could I suppose, try a Nissan Juke or a Quashquai, but their prices seem very high considering at around £20k and I haven't got that much, only around £15k
Or I could go for a 63 plate maybe?

    Totally confused now, lol
Any advice still welcome. I have 2 weeks to sort it out

What additional servicing costs would a turbo incur? They are a non-servicable item - you don't go near one unless it goes pop.

Have you checked Autotrader? 63 plate 1.6LS with 10k miles under £12,000

Brand new 1.6LS with 5 miles £12,550. Several for £13,000 or under.

Hi, I didnt mean to put you off, just to let you know possible future issues.

They are a very nice drive, more like driving a car than the the cumbersome Antara/Captiva. I drive a Trax or Mokka at some point most days as part of my job

The issue I have noticed is that when they get to around 10,000 miles the engines do appear noisier.

The Mokka is basically a rebadged Trax and now that Chevrolet are pulling out of Europe production of the Mokka is being switched to Spain.

Not just rebadged though. Seems all the body panels are totally different. And some of the trim.

Estimated future values are low. £6000 - £9000 in 3 years. But thats based on the £15,500 - £20,500 prices. They are already discounting them.

£5000 worth of depreciation in the 1st year. Buy a slightly used one..

Yes the panels and trim are different but up until now the Mokka has been produced in Chevrolet plants.....it is a Chevrolet design.
  • Now I'm well and truly put off.
Who said this buying a car game was easy?

Went to drive Juke today and much better drive, but £4k dearer at least.

I have another question to ask you guys.
I signed a piece of paper today, he said just to say we've seen your driving licence, but a friend says it might have been to credit check me coz they didn't think I was a serious buyer. Is he joking me?

Also, I could buy this £18 with 10k deposit and 8k 0% finance, but how stringent do you think the credit checks would be as I do have a couple of blips in my past.
I wouldn't have thought it mattered too much as they just take the car back don't they, plus I wouldn't not pay anyway.
I guess you guys will say buy a 13 reg at 14k but it's my one and probably last chance to buy a new car!
