A 1.6 engine against a 1.4 turbo one

I am thinking of buying a new Chevrolet Trax.
There are 2 options for my price range, the 1.6litre and the 1.4 litre turbo.
I have been told that the turbo is the best option as it has the turbo.
Looking at the stats,
The 1.6LT does 0-60 in 12.3 secs using torque of 155.0 Nm@4000 rpm
The 1.4LT T does 0-60 in 9,5 secs using torque of 200.0 Nm@1850 rpm
Can I therefore take it that although the 1.6 is the bigger engine, overall, the 1.4 is faster and more powerful, which is what I want

Couldn't say with any technical experience but from personal experience I would say the 1.4 turbo would be better. I went from a Fiesta 1.4tdci to an Astra 1.6 - talk about sluggish. I couldn't understand why - I wrongly assumed bigger engine meant more power.0

Small petrol turbos have power delivery similar to a diesel. Lots of torque low down the rev range which is when you want it. 1850 rpm as opposed to 4,000 for the non turbo unit.
The 1.4t is probably the same used in numerous Vauxhalls so check for any inherent problems. The downside of a turbo engine is the turbo as its an expensive component to fix.0 -
an astra 1600 will feel sluggish its a vhaxhall.

Also look at economy and reliability.

To back up the "why a Chevrolet" comments, take a look at last place in the 2013 JD Power survey......

The 1.4 will be under more stress. You need to look after the turbo. Dont boot it when cold. Let it cool before switching off if its had a good run.
Better as in cost more to insure? Uses more fuel? Eats front tyres faster?
A vauxhall engine is not the best comparison. They had some very low powered ones in the range.
If you want the fastest stretch out to the diesel. Faster, LOTS more torque and lots better MPG. It may work out cheaper to run overall.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Hi, do you know that Chevrolet are pulling out of Europe so they are being heavily discounted until all stock has been sold.
Vauxhall dealers will continue to cover warranty on Chevrolets but although parts will still be available for the time being this will probably deteriorate over time and there will be delays obtaining parts.
As the cars are being heavily discounted it means that depreciation will be high should you wish to resell.
For warranty work they have to obtain actual Chevrolet spares and cannot use the parts that will be available for the equivalent Vauxhall Mokka.0 -
I heard they were stopping chevvy sales but then they have sponsored man utd for a seven year shirt deal ??? :money:0

The General Motors exec, Joel Ewanick, that negotiated and then approved (!) the $560 million sponsorship deal was subsequently despatched from GM."Retail is for suckers"

Yer, I have been assured parts will be available for 5/10 years.
The 63 models seem to be holding their price quite well.
Mokk's 5k more for same engine?0
