PCN in the dark (CPM UK Car Park Management)

Options
Hi All,

I received a PCN last night placed in a nice yellow stickY stuck to my window screen. I was parked behind some shops off a high street of which was pitch black and other cars were parked and I could see the guy sitting in his smart car watching people arrive so he could put these tickets on the car.

I have been online and checked the photos he took which shows how dark it was as there is no lighting and he need the lights of his car to see the car. He also stated the colour of the car incorrectly due to the poor light DARK GREY when in fact the car is black ! I even took photos of the signs when I actually found them not that I could read them.

The car is a lease car so reading through the first thread to newbies bit confused as it's a lease car.

All help duely welcomed.

Thank you

  • As its a lease car, write straight away to the parking company, giving your details as the driver with an appeal

Please take pics of the lack of signage at the entrance - in the dark, no flash - and a close up of the wording in daylight or with flash so we can read it.

Please send the version of an appeal letter I wrote in the NEWBIES thread, not your own version, as I wrote it specifically to flush out firms like UKCPM whose signs seem to pretend the charge is a contractual fee. Use the first appeal letter here but just change it to start 'I am the driver and...' & remove any little sentence which talks about 'the registered keeper' (as you are not).

You need to use those words, the bullet points in the template I wrote, to get them to say what the basis of the charge is or you will have very little to go on at POPLA appeal except their ambiguous/dark sign and a PCN.

This particularly important for UKCPM, based on previous cases. Please show us your photos when you have them as we need to see the wording and the view as you saw it (pitch black).

That looks like the same car park which two other posters have recently posted about getting a ticket in the dark. I think they were UKCPM cases too - search the forum for 'UKCPM' or 'pitch black' to find the threads I am thinking of and see if this is the same place!

EDIT - found one of them! Cazador's thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4899567

That is a standard UKCPM sign we've seen before and needs special wording for a POPLA appeal in due course. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the request for a VAT invoice for starters as we haven't used that template appeal on them yet...
