I can see your point re scart, however if the TV has HDMI then any STB OP buys needs one too.
Looking at the specs for that humax youview box on whathifi site which don't seem available on the Humax site, it does look like it has a rgb scart which is fortunate otherwise it wouldn't of worked well with her TV.0 -

Well thinking on it could be hd but I'm not aware of it really. It's a samsung flat screen 32 in and about 5 years old. I could either connect this box to use with the aerial or via the sky dish could n t I ?0 -
Its terrestrial so you connect it to your aerial.
Folks are talking about the lead from the box to the TV. Ideally this should be an HDMI connection.
One of these. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Hi I'm buying blind here lol doesn t it come with everything I need to set it up be it aerial or sky dish. Wouldn t a sky connection give a better signal etc or are the sky and aerial similar. thanks0 -
Sorry, you really need to get your head around the difference between Sky/Freesat which receives its signal from a Satellite somewher over the equator, and Freeview/YouView that receives its signal from a Terrestrial transmitter for which you use an aerial, you can't use a Dish with a Freeview or YouView box.
You may get an HDMI lead with the YouView box, if not and your TV has the HDMI socket you will have to buy one. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
You've bought a YouView box - that connects to an aerial. DO NOT try to connect it to your Sky dish. That's what a FreeSat box would have been for.
If your TV's only 5yrs old it probably has HDMI. If you tell us the model number we could tell you...0 -
To ensure compatibility with the box you have purchased your TV connections need to be known.
Therefore we need to know what available connections your TV has. If you could post your TV model number that would help. If it's 5 years old then it is probably a LCD or LED TV which are fairly slimline but the connections available can vary. Some have HDMI, DVI, Scart, VGA PC input, an Aerial socket, component, s-video or composite. Older CRT TV's which I previously thought that you were referring to are physically quite large, deep and bulky and have more limited connections available. They very rarely have hdmi, occasionally component and RGB scart is the best most common connection. Flat screen was available on CRT TV's and also on LCD/LED and Plasma TV's, older CRT's did not have flat screens because they curved. It's not referring to the thickness of the TV, only the front of the screen.
Tell us the TV model number and someone can confirm the connections available to ensure compatibility with the box you have purchased.
You must have a satellite dish as you have cancelled SKY TV therefore a FreeSat box could of been connected for Free Satellite TV. Recoding and timeshifting can be done on many Freesat Boxes.
If you have a TV aerial feed at your lounge wall then either a Freeview or the Youview box that you have purchased can be used. Many of these can also record and timeshift such as pausing TV while you go and make a drink, answer the door etc. You must have an aerial feed to use the youview box so ensure that you have one of those!0 -

It's in the bedroom high up on a unit and as it's rather large I can t get at it to turn it round the whole way to see whats at the back. I m having a job reading the small numbers and letters even with my glasses on.0 -

This is for a bedroom, we have a few aerial feeds, one downstairs in the lounge where we also had sky tv years ago. Also one in each bedroom where we plug the aerial into the box on the ceiling.
It's due to be delivered tomorrow.0 -
Hi my youview box has been delivered and it's come with a hdmi cable and an ethernet cable. According to the instructions as my router is more than 2 metres away from my box indeed in a different room I will need a pair of power line adapters. These are something else I don t know anything about . Can anyone suggest where to get some from please0
