i mean i am a buyers dream, FTB with a big deposit, pre approved mortgage and no probs going as fast or slow as the buyer wants and yet i cant even get in the door.

They've probably got 40 or 50 more like you queuing up to pay over the top for any shed that comes on the market. With family houses it's got to the point in some areas that you needn't bother viewing of you're buying with a mortgage because there are plenty of cash buyers.

It won't last much longer though.

i seriously doubt glasgow is one of those areas, even if it is i doubt such buyers would be going after the places i am since i tend to go for wrecks in odd areas(i do have logic behind it).

Estate agents services are going to be severely judged in terms of value (or lack of it). What's the job worth really and why charge a percentage depending on value as opposed to a flat fee?
  • Right move has refused to put Tesco's properties on there site as they will not advertise private house sales.

I can't really understand all the excitement, there are lots of companies offering you to sell your house privately.

All they are giving you is a for sale board and some where to advertise!

You will then have to do all your own viewings, negotiate selling price etc.

Also with Energy efficency tests coming in (you will have to pay the fee to get that done) Estate agents won't charge you for it........

It will be interesting to see how many people sign up and how many buyers want to deal direct with the owner. I hated the bloke we bought our house off!!

frankly i think one of the big banks or financial institutes should be doing this, not only do they have the branch infrastucture but also the trust to be professional do it right.

    .

Several of them did exactly that during the last housing boom of the late 80s.

And most of them lost millions and eventually gave up during the following crash.

    Errr Halifax Property Services! Doh!
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

I'm in a similar position Epz... so glad it's not just me as paranoia was beginning to kick in! :D
I've tried endlessly to make appointments to view properties, some of which have already been on the market for several weeks (so buyers are not exactly queueing up to buy them) and been given the run around/brush off by rude, uncaring and and incompetent EAs.
When we eventually got to see one property recently the vendor told us he was so sick of the EA's inefficiency to manage viewings that he was changing EA and, despite knowing this, (with their contract about to expire within a few days and so potentially losing several thousand pounds worth of custom)the original EA still couldn't manage the proverbial party in a brewery! ;) Catherine Tate's 'Am I bovvered?' character springs to mind in many instances!

Fantastic. I'd much rather pay Tesco's £200 upfront and not find a buyer than £0 to an EA for the same result!

In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
