Also, an important question to ask before even looking at benefits etc is: does his aunt actually want him to move in to her house to look after her?

this is an important factor - and i think the answer will be no, she knows what he can be like when he gets up to his antics and i do not think she will want to live through them with him

also older women have a lot of pride, and even though the auntie receiving the care has downs, i do not think she would like a man looking after her in the most intimate of ways

he has a lot to think about and consider, and i am trying to arm him with facts and not just my negative thoughts on the matter

    couple of things:

as others have pointed out, he'd get IS & Carers Allowance, which should add up to about £85 between the 2. However this is subject to the Aunt getting DLA Care at middle or higher rate, and then if she does get this and she currently gets IS and lives alone (?) she might have a Severe Disability Premium in her IS, which would be lost if he claimed Carers Allowance, or if he moved in.

As for those people passing judegement/criticising your motives, the forum rules state that this should not be done. This forum is for people to ask about benefit entitlement, not the morality of it, nor the motivation for it.
