Bbc, itv and Channel 4 breaking up on Sky

Hi All
We have an old sky+ box, over the last few days BBC, ITV and channel 4 have been breaking up. Tonight we cannot watch any of these stations, getting a "no satellite signal" message on screen. All the other channels and sky channels are fine. I have done a reset but it hasnt helped. I did a signal check and Input 1 is at about 90% with 80% quality. Input 2 is at about 70% and 60% quality. I rang sky this evening and they are suggesting sending an engineer but at a cost of £65 call out. Just wanted to check if anyone else has had this issue and resolved it without an expensive call out.
Thanks

Check the Sky help forums, they have greater traffic than this site with regard Sky TV.

I have notice a little breaking up on BBC1 HD on Sunday and yesterday. It got particularly bad during Eastenders and Silk last night. I switched over to BBC1 on 101 and there was no problem."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

I would always try a planner rebuild (search the net for it) before even going near Sky...0

This happened my aunt recently, and I think it was because of the windy weather.
I rang Sky on her behalf, and went through to cancellations explaining I was cancelling as the signal was non-existant, and I couldn't afford the £65 call-out, coupled with the £23.50 monthly subscription being too dear. They eventually halved the subscription and reduced the call-out charge to £15...ended up with a completely new dish.
It's worth a try, and you should ask for a new box too!0 -
Thanks everyone, I tried all the online solutions to no avail. I'm fairly sure it is a dish or box issue as signal has been better in the last few days and breaks up a lot less (but it is still happening)
I rang sky and told them I couldnt afford £65 call out charge so they reduced it to £15 and will re-imburse me for days of lost signal. Engineer coming round on Monday so we will see what they say.0 -

I've had a repeat performance on nearly all BBC and ITV stations, starting at lunch time, and intermittently during the afternoon, of breaking up and losing channels completely.
I'm just wondering if this may have anything to do with the change to the new satellite a couple of weeks ago, whereby the signal is more focused on Great Britain."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Do you live outside the UK? If you are in the UK, it just sounds like a dish alignment issue or perhaps damaged cabling.poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »

I'm in the Midlands. The problem has stopped now but will keep an eye on it to see if it happens again."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
