O2 to Sky broadband router settings

whilst that is cool for you and many others, people like me and spud want/need to tweak and monitor our lines for best performance... like spud I tweak my 50dB line down to 2.5dB snrm and it's perfectly stable, to get a sync speed iro 7400kb/s
Using a router that allows the use of such tweak/monitor software is essential
Sky using MER authentication on top of not freely giving out user/pwords is a right pain
My downstream speed is 6589 kbps, which is not overly impressive on an "up to" 20 Mbps service.0 -
but what's your line attenuation? I would suggest 48dB @ 6dB snrm? If so, and your line was stable enough, you could sync around a meg higher @ 3dB snrm
Ultimately, the "up to" doesn't matter, it's the length of your line (lower line attenuation = shorter line) that will determine speed/bandwidth, and on the same line it will be pretty much the same whichever ISP you're with......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Could tweak it some more
, but currently rock steady.

Mine says:

My upload speed is now only 60% of what it was recently. I did not pay too much attention to the connection stats but I am certain they were actually better than I had while on Be*. Now they are a lot worse. I am currently using the Be* 585 router because lightning destroyed my 546 and I could not get my 2nd 546 working with Be for some reason. My 716 I cannot find the PSU.
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:896 / 6,704 Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:796 / 5,575 Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]:0.00 / 0.00 Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:10.5 / 0.0 Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:27.0 / 51.0 SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:11.5 / 6.0 Vendor ID (Local/Remote):TMMB / GSPN
I was on a 3dB profile and they have now stuck me onto a 6dB profile. The upload SN margin I don't know why that is as bad as it is but explains where all my upload speed has vanished to.
Is there any hope of getting this connection back to what I had while on Be*?0 -
24 unused tones. I'm not in the slightest bit impressed. Nothing can be tweaked on the 585.0

I'd had a number of issues with Sky and they gave me a year's free line rental to compensate (roughly equivalent to the cost of BB), which expired some months back.
Sky has been stable but unimpressive, and it suits me to have both options as a failsafe (two different providers down different wires), since I work from home.
I've been thinking about ditching the Sky BB and phone though, and I might get around to it some time.0
