Thank you for explaining so clearly. If you don't mind me asking another couple of questions... why did you buy them in groups of 9 and did you have to buy fillers with each group of 9? Also, how do I identify fillers please?

That's wonderful news - I had to take take early retirement last year due to a health problem and although I now work part time we are finding it difficult to tighten our belts sufficiently. Fingers crossed that. if I can get the hang of this, then it could really help.
    Thanks again
In this case bought in 9's due to 3 for £3 therefore could have bought 3 ,6 ,9
but always remember things change quickly so be careful what you buy
and fillers are what you have price checked with asda msm to compare with the shop you are buying

They were bought in 3s because the offer is 3 for £3. You need a minimum of 8 different items in your shop to use the APG. Anything with same barcode only counts once.
It's always safe to add a couple of extra items in until you get the hang of this. See some of the shopping lists posted for ideas. Fillers can be anything. Some people buy small amounts of loose veg, some buy low value sweets, smart priced items etc. You'll find your own way of doing it as you pick it up.
Fillers is just a term used for items that bring your shop up to the minimum items needed HTH
