Just cancelled sky but what now?

Hi all

Ive just cancelled my sky subscription after being constantly over charged each month for an error an their part, total so far being £150 in 3 months. Every month i have to ring them, cancel payment, repay etc

I finally cancelled them this morning after having sky for 7 years and now i want to know if there are any other good deals with other companies as i have only ever been with sky i dont know of any.

I dont mind freeview for a while so was also thinking of buying a recordable freeview box, are they any good? The main reason i stayed with sky was to be able to pause, record etc

Thanks very much for your time

Mum cancelled Sky and bought a freeview HD box; one that records etc. However, she hated not having the channels. It's taken her months to get used to it and she still isn't happy! What she does do is check the TV guide carefully and records the programs she is interested in and keeps those for when there is nothing on. Unlike Sky, when there is usually something watchable on somewhere at any time.

So, personally, I would make a note of all those TV channels you do watch and decide if you can do without them!

I've had a Humax Foxsat HDR for a few years, it works off the same dish & cables as $ky. Good picture and sound quality, series record, pause screen etc.

Obviously you won't have all the channels you had - no $ky One, movies etc but you do get BBC1-4 HD, ITV HD, C4 HD.

  • thanks both for replies, ill prob miss the channels in the beginning but when i sit and think about it i only end up watching some silly programme like my sister turned into a monster or get fit in 2 seconds.

The only channel i will prob miss is sky 1 really.

ill look at the that box now :)

Its an internet streaming box. You can't record stuff but you can pause.

Unlimited Broadband is preferable, along with za download speed of at least 4-6 Mbps

  • Another alternative for you could be BT TV
It would make sense if you have your broadband with them
