I bought some rubber car mats and they really smell. Anyone have any ideas how to remove the smell?

    plenty of air and time

you could try febreez or the like but I don't use these kind of products - I'm sure they are at least a cause of the increasing number of people suffering asma and the like

I bought some cheap ones from Tesco (£1.47?) and they still stank 12 months later. After many complaints from passengers, I gave them to my daughter for her car as 'a present'. :shhh:

Funnily enough they don't seem to smell in her car, but the smell's now gone from mine so everybody's happy.

I've found that with cheap ones but not expensive ones.
I bought my husband a really cheap set & they stunk, so I got him a really good set in Halfords for about £50 & they are lovely.
Halfords are worth looking in they have a big range in all prices & lots of special offers.

I had this problem too, but I find it only affects the cheaper stuff.

If you have some spare cash lying around, then consider purchasing a set of "Cannons" car mats from an automotive parts store. They're the "Rolls Royce" of mats - made from thick premium rubber and should last you years. Mind you they aren't cheap.
