ERNI savings on payslip

Hi hope someone can help me with my query.

My daughter opened a Direct ISA with NS&I in January and deposited money into it. She has noticed that on her payslips in January and February there are amounts on the deductions side with the detail of "ERNI Savings". The amounts are different for the two months (£1.16 and £0.57) and are not included or deducted from her salary but she is wondering what these amounts are.

I think ERNI stands for Employer National Insurance. Not sure why there would be savings though, maybe check with her payroll people?

I wasn't sure if these figures were anything to do with her new ISA but they just appeared as soon as she opened her account so I just put two and two together and got 3 perhaps!! I think I will get her to speak to her payroll dept

If ERNI means Earnings Related National Insurance, then a saving could be achieved through some sort of salary sacrifice scheme. Is the daughter paying pension contributions by salary sacrifice?

It's certainly nothing to do with the ISA.
