You will probably be taken off their list and told to register at a different practice.
    Or you could go private.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    2. she said she could not do anything for me, and said 'those' treatments are not available on NHS (without even looking into what treatments I had discovered on medical forums, and some forums saying that these treatments are available)

Are they not available because there is no research to support them??

I am in pain from my liver ( I do not drink), and am trying to lose weight, but, I feel I am between a rock and a hard place, and my local PCT is useless

PCTs haven't existed for nearly a year- might explain why they are 'useless'
  • What treatments for SI pain?

also said she could not do anything regarding my fatty liver, as she did not have my medical notes. Now this may well have been a fact, but, why has it taken over 3 months to get hold of my notes,?

I'm reliably informed that it can easily take this length of time to transfer your notes when you register at a new practice.

So you have read a few forums and diagnosed all your problems and the doctors are wrong.

You have no complaint, you will get no where.

They will be doing everything they can for you, but sometimes people just cant accept that and blame them for it.

With all due respect that is complete garbage. Their is a reason they are called General Practitioners - outside of their specialism they are a jack of all trades and master of none.

They are also in my experience very variable when it comes to treating chronic conditions. When I was diagnosed with CFS my dr told me there isn't a cure. What she had a lack of knowledge about is the fact that it was not curable but it WAS treatable.

I had to ask her for a referral to a specialist CFS clinic 10 years later because a family friend mentioned they exist! Otherwise she'd still be telling there's nothing she can do. This is a doctor I would rate highly btw.

So please tone it down, your post is frankly as condescending and arrogant as some of the worst GP's i've met. It's always the bad ones that are arrogant and refuse to listen. There's is a lot information online about chronic conditions that is very specific and based on new developments.

Their is every chance that a general practitioner will not have the time to keep up with all these developments, their knowledge pool is to broad to be able to cover every condition out there and all the developments.

I personally prefer to see my Nurse Practitioner, I saw her for the first time with infected eczema, I had asked the dr i saw first, who incidentally was a skin specialist, if their was a cream that could treat the infection and not just the eczema alone. He said no, guess what? He was wrong. I asked the Nurse practitioner and she said it does exist, here is a prescription. No attitude, no turning her nose up, just simple decent service. She was actually surprised when i explain i had been in a extraordinary amount of pain since my last appointment because the dr said their was nothing that could treat the infection and i just had to treat the eczema.

Some GP's are not as good as others. It's a fact. Taking responsibility for your own health is a positive step. It's people like you with your dismissive post that stop people educating themselves because you belittle them and make them feel their efforts are a joke compared to the 'god-like' abilities of a general practitioner.

Why are you moving to a new GP?

There is more to this than meets the eye.

Who originally diagnosed your liver problem, or is it a self diagnosis?

OP who are you making the complaint against? your post isn't too clear. Is it against the hospital who have been investigating 'hip problems' where they saying the problem may be your hip and not your liver? Are you also 100% sure they have'nt done a liver scan while investigating other options, i would also think they did bloods and would of at least done a liver function test (lft) during their investigations.

Or is your complaint about your new GP? Trying to fathom out though what your new GP has done to warrant a complaint.

Strangly though it may seem, some problems never get a diagnosis as no point of area can be found.

You also state that you have previously made a' complaint to the 'chief exc of your local PCT and within 2 weeks you were being operated on', was this a related problem?

Dammit, you beat me to it!

I was quite looking forward to making this point when I got to the end... Maybe next time, haha.

Also, OP, what are *those* treatments that aren't available on the NHS? Do you know that they are?

Maybe make another appointment with another doctor at the practice, see if they can do any more for you.

I have been through the NHS meat grinder before, on that previous occasion, I ended writing to chief exec of that PCT at time with detailed complaint, within two weeks of letter I was in hospital having the required surgery,

feel myself going the same way again

Sorry, but if you have already (successfully) complained about your treatment by the NHS why do you need to ask how you should go about making a further complaint?

I don't think you could reasonably expect the doctor to prescribe anything for your complaint, whatever Dr Google says about its availability on the NHS, until she has seen your medical records to confirm your diagnosis. If she simply took a new patient's word for it then she could be told that they suffer from X complaint and therefore need morphine for pain relief. This might be a total lie and a ruse to gain the medication they want. This scenario can, and does, happen.
