complaint - NHS?

I am in process of writing to my local GP practice a letter of complaint,

I have been suffering from acute and chronic lower left back pain for 2 years, SI joint pain. It has severely reduced my activity and I have put 2 stonne on.

I am newly registered, and :

1. had new appt few weeks ago, doctor I saw (not my registered doctor, some other 'fill in appt/doc') was lacking in empathy, understatement of the year. I would go as far to say she was down right condescending
2. she said she could not do anything for me, and said 'those' treatments are not available on NHS (without even looking into what treatments I had discovered on medical forums, and some forums saying that these treatments are available)
3. also said she could not do anything regarding my fatty liver, as she did not have my medical notes. Now this may well have been a fact, but, why has it taken over 3 months to get hold of my notes,?
I am in pain from my liver ( I do not drink), and am trying to lose weight, but, I feel I am between a rock and a hard place, and my local PCT is useless,
I spent the past year going to local NHS hospital only to be told that it is not my hip causing the pain, time to go away. Well I knew that anyway.. (ok at time I should have complained then perhaps, but, I was so exhausted from all the appts, and getting messed around. Is now I have some clear thought, able to stand back, and see the merry go round I have been on).

I am process of drafting letter of complaint, can anyone give any advice, ombudsman to contact, other authorities I can direct complaint to?

thanks in advance,

Does your medical practice have a website, and if it does is that a page that describes the complaints process? I've just checked mine, and it says to contact the practice manager or a senior partner, whichever you think is more appropriate, and that if you're not happy you can contact the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (not sure what the equivalent is elsewhere in the UK). They also have a complaints procedure leaflet available.

The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP Secretary of State Overall responsibility
Norman Lamb MP Minister of State Care services, mental health, disabilities
Dr. Daniel Poulter MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Health services
Jane Ellison MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Public health, devolved matters
The Earl Howe Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Quality, NHS Constitution, primary care, medicines

Send your complaint to all the above, you may get a reply but don't bank on it.

Nothing to say a doctor has to be friendly.
    What is the actual complaint?

I am not asking for friendliness, I am asking for help, some professional service,

please read my post again, thank you

thanks for advice, believe it is Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, I may go to them,

I have been through the NHS meat grinder before, on that previous occasion, I ended writing to chief exec of that PCT at time with detailed complaint, within two weeks of letter I was in hospital having the required surgery,

feel myself going the same way again

    thanks in advance,

I don't understand parts of your post ?

Why are you asking the doctor for treatments that you've read about on internet forums ? How do you know they're suitable ?

What does the bit about "3 months to get my notes" mean? Is it because this is a new doctor ?

Have you made a complaint to your local PCT ? If not, why do you think they are useless ?

What is your complaint to the previous hospital about ?
  • to those that 'understood' my post, great thanks , and came back with some useful info, cheers

to those that don't understand, :rotfl:

guess there are 1000s of other postings you will be able to understand :D

My sister is a GP and gets a bit cheesed off with people who think Dr Google knows better than they do with all sorts of wonderful treatments found on the internet. Can get a bit wearing apparently.

So you have read a few forums and diagnosed all your problems and the doctors are wrong.

You have no complaint, you will get no where.

They will be doing everything they can for you, but sometimes people just cant accept that and blame them for it.
