Can my employer change my payday without notice??
Comments
-
someone left on payday in the past basically and therefore took a months worth of wages but only worked until the 24th therefore putting the company out of pocket i believe. Never was my intention.
Who knows, maybe I am getting fired, but when i have already given notice?
How come? You don't normally get paid in advance, you get paid for the month just gone? Confused:(0

Probably paid on 24 the but the pay is for the full month eg 1st to 30th.....or in this case the 28 th.
Not legal but why are you asking here instead of getting the union you pay fees to ...to sort it out ?
Resolution is 2 stages First to pay you correctly .....and confirm what will happen next month. Second to agree you'll be able to claim all charges . I'd take the union rep with you to the meeting on Monday.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
 MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0

            duchy, thanks.
Unite not open this weekend unfortunately, but i will get on to them first thing on Monday about the situation.0

There is no rep at my workplace so I would have to contact the office and get the area officer to come out0
-
Bear in mind that if you do get the area officer to come out, your employer has no obligation to speak to them.
If your MD was surprised, I think you may do better by speaking directly to him than trying to get a union member on site.
Good luck and hopefully you will get it resolved tomorrow.*** Thank you for your consideration ***0

If you get paid say on the 24th of the month but its for the full calender month this is why they are paying you on the last date of the month
If they pay you in full on the 24th you then have some days £ which you are not entitled to if you dont come back the next day.
If you still have some time to work in March I sugesst you find out how this will be paid - probably on the very last day you work. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I understand that. But I should have been given notice or paid up until the 24th. It isn't right to let me know at 5pm on a Friday when I have outgoings on the Monday and expect as per contract to be paid on this date.0

Which is exactly why employers tend to keep some of the wages back!! Where I use to work we was paid on 15th of every month for the whole calendar month(approx. 2 weeks in arrears and 2 or so weeks in advance) If someone was paid a full month on 15th and left at the end of the month there is no guarantee that they would come into work for the last 2 weeks!! The problems this caused when trying to get the overpayment back!! We would pay 1/2 on 15th and the rest when they leave. This isn't illegally withholding money as you haven't worked for that money yet!!!someone left on payday in the past basically and therefore took a months worth of wages but only worked until the 24th therefore putting the company out of pocket i believe. I would happily have taken my money from up to the 24th, when I am going to probably be paying a hundred quid in late fees and bounced direct debits, that is another issue. WITH due notice, I could have changed these dates. Now I am out of pocket through absolutely no fault of my own.0
