Thank you AlexMac, that was a lovely post. I am trying to be very calm on the outside for the sake of the children. Inside I feel like a wreck. Tonight is the only night of the week I stay up late as the housing list changes just after midnight. It may seem silly but I can't get to sleep until I've checked it.
I've spoken to my housing officer this afternoon to make her aware of the situation, it doesn't make any difference to my placing on the waiting list.
She is hoping that a few more 3 bedroom houses will be made available soon and can't believe the lack of available houses in my area in the last few months. There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

I don't know why I stay up late, There was nothing to bid on again this week. I have noticed that there is an empty council house being worked on opposite where I work which would be ideal. I'm told there is a 4 week turnaround from when tenants move out to when the property becomes available to bid on.
Fingers crossed that something happens soon. There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

Once they've served the correct paperwork (a valid Section 21 Notice) the landlord will need to apply to the court for possession and he won't be able to do that until your fixed-term has ended. The courts are pretty busy at the moment and he may have to wait months for a date.
Just a daft question if I may. The claim form for possession is signed and dated the day before my tenancy ran out. Is that ok for the landlord to have done that before my fixed term ended ?There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

Thought I'd update this thread. I have sent the court paperwork back and am awaiting a decision on whether they will allow me 42 extra days.
Last week there were 2 housing association properties I could bid on in my home town. I was 3rd in line for one of them but someone has turned it down and no.2 in the list is still dithering over whether to take it so I have been invited to view it next week. Its not in the best location but I will happily accept it if offeredThere is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

It wasn't meant to be. The people ahead of me accepted it. I am slightly relieved as it was on the worst housing estate in this areaThere is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.

If you get confused about what's what, you can always give Shelter a call, for dome quick advice:

Good luck.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Thanks Morglin, I spoke to them ages ago.
I am in the position now of whatever I'm offered I have to take. Feels like the uncertainty has been going on forever.
I keep the thread updated in case anyone else is going through the same situation. I often read threads and wonder what happens at the end so will keep this going until I'm settled somewhere. There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.
