Parking Over Driveway

Posted in a different thread about the PITA parking situation we have…so how would we broach this one? (The time for niceties has passed unfortunately). Apologies for length.
Back ground is fairly generic; neighbour moves in June 2011 (9 months after us). Kept themselves to themselves at first. Then it came to the car coming out of the garage (think it may have been SORN prior) probably about a year ago (could even be two). Since then, it’s got worse.
Neighbour seems to think the road is his territory. At first, there was a bit of give and take; explaining the situation, asking him to park further down so we don’t have to swing off the drive (or that we could at least drive in a straight line), him explaining his wife isn’t that good at reversing due to the angle hence why so high, etc.
Then it became a case of him parking further back and overhanging our drive (June 2013). After a week, I asked him if he could park a bit further down, like before…same reasoning about angle and swing. Unfortunately, I dismissed that as BS when I said that I practised in a Merc Sprinter van (one of the big ones) and could get that onto his drive with the usual cars there. No excuse to overhang a drive. Yes, other cars park opposite (you’ll see where below) but there rest of the road has no other vehicles to avoid and there is even an access route (to another car park for some houses) which can be used to drive down then reverse up…nearly bang on opposite.
The ‘actual’ reason was “Well, I’m parked in front of my CCTV and parallel to the drop”. Due to the angle of the road to our drive, I don’t think the interpretation of the obstruction computed…even when shown (pic demonstrates).
After a couple of months of it, I ended up blocking myself in because his over hang over the drive made it more difficult to reverse onto the drive. My wife isn’t comfortable reversing on now so drives on. Coming home from work, I parked over the end of my drive and possibly about 1ft back from the parallel of the fence to accommodate for my own manoeuvres (there’s a lamppost near the drive…can’t move that). He’ll come home, park as close to me as possible, simple (and as close of possible is can’t-open-the-boot-close). I could leave in the morning and wife could drive/reverse off fine.
Nope. As soon as my car is gone, he’ll reverse back…2 feet. I jest ye not. Leave house, reverse, go back in.
November, the Lord forbid, I came home (19:30) once and parked a foot further back normally than I do. He then comes round with his brother (they both gym it 5 times a week..quite intimidating) at 21:00, both kids in bed, bang on the door and threaten my wife that I best not do it again or “I’m due a slapping” amongst other things (that’s why the niceties have passed). At this point, wife is upset and says to just forget it…it’s not worth it. Park out of the way, forget it. He’s also had words with other neighbours for parking in exactly the same manner; in front of their houses. Only difference is they don’t overhang any drives.
All in all, I know it’s not worth too much hassle but why can some people not have a bit of give and take? He parks about 5-7ft from the drop of his own kerb but over hanging ours.
To demonstrate…well, pic’s below. This was this morning and that’s not too bad either! Usually his back wheel or spoiler is in line with the kerb drop (the line on the kerb between fence and my car can be seen)…only reason it wasn’t was because of where I was.
Edit: images removed for now
What’s your opinion? Is this acceptable? Is there any legality on this? What would you do?
For me, it’s annoying but not the end of the world. It’s quite upsetting that our neighbours act this way. Not interested in a !!!!! fest; objective reasoning at the forefront! I don’t want to go round and ask again nicely because he’ll see it as a ‘threat to his space’ and I don’t want to cause confrontation because (IMO) he’s unpredictable...and not in a lovey dovey way!

It might help to point out which car is which, and possibly obliterate the registration plates ....0

The Toyota appears parked appropriately, looks to be in the middle of two dropped kerbs. I'm assuming this is the neighbour's car and their house is to the right? The angle of your drive to the road looks to be the problem. Do you have a satellite view?0
-
Can't see anything wrong the way he is parked tbh.
Post up the street view.0 -
The VW is blocking the pavement, that is an offenceNothing to see here, move along.0
-
The black car appears to be parked perfectly fine, the grey one however is a big problem as it is preventing pedestrians from using the pavement.
As it is a new estate have the roads/pavements been adopted?0 -
I hope the VW doesn't park like that blocking the pavement?
Toyota looks fine.
You have no right (usually) to park outside your own house.0 -
I can see he has parked right at the edge of your dropped kerb but miles from the edge of his. My neighbours do this to us too to make entering and leaving our drive more difficult. He's just being awkward but he is parked legally so there is nothing you can do.My Wins: £150 Next giftcard. Rimmel Lip Gloss, Benefit Lipstick and lipgloss. Rimmel Day2Night mascara. Depending on how precious you are about your car, a few "scrapes" whne you reverse out of that tight spot might enourage him to shift up a bit?I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Agree with PPs, yes he could park a little further down if his is the Toyota, however there seems from the pics to be more than enough room to maneuver around.

Assuming the Toyota is his, can't see your problem tbh. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
