A fool and their money are soon parted.
They may call me dizzy, but even I am not dumb enough to pay £310 for a 50p coin.
I wonder if the winning bidder will ever pay, or will this be another one of those media hypes that attracts brand new ebay bidders making bids in the £millions?
I must admit I did sell a 20p coin for a couple of quid on ebay a few years back because it didn't have a date on the reverse. I asked the buyer if he wanted any more, but never got a response back ... not even any feedback.0 -
A couple of typos:
The Royal Mint is encouraging people to check their purses, wallets, jam jars and sofas for one of 210,000 Kew Gardens coins (see the picture on the right), were released into circulation in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
And:
About in 300 people are thought to have the coins.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Talk about profiteering.
This seller has been trying to offload them for a month - sold one last month at £16.99.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360425302367
Yesterday sold 3 more at £19.99 and ended the listing.
Reposted, starting at £22.99 and kept raising the price over a couple of hours to £39.99 ... and still sold 47 of them (over 20 at £39.99)

Again seller ended listing and reposted this time at £42.99 selling a further 14

Not bad for a few hours work at the most - sit back and watch the £££s roll in!
Notice the seller is hiding behind a PO BOX too0 -

The date free 20p coins are an even better find as the Mint remove & destroy them every time they're found in circulation.
Not that I'd turn my nose up at a Kew 50pence mind!0
